Attention K-Mart shoppers...two Midway movies!

Good evening,

Two movies coming out that may be of interest...

Dauntless: 1 September, 2019

Wow!...those Midway scenes remind me of some of my more intense CFS2 PTO action. Its good to finally see some CGI dive bomber action on the big screen.

do any of you know when Dauntless is due to appear?

Wow, Two new Midway movies, and in the same year!

The old one had its good parts, especially the T V version that included the Battle of the Coral Sea. But it also had it's seriously awful parts, and Hal Holbrook's portrayal of Joe Rochfort was downright slanderous.

The Yorktown class carriers and the SBDs with correct markings in the Dauntless trailer look great!

Now if only someone would make a movie about the Battle of the Coral Sea...

At the risk of straying off topic, I recently saw another excellent WW2 aviation movie on my cable's PPV. It's a recent film released under many names, depending on the market you see it in: "Hurricane" aka "303 Squadron" aka "Mission of Honor" aka possible other titles It's about the RAF's No.303 (Polish) Squadron in the Battle of Britain. Excellent CGI Hurricanes and numerous other BoB types, good acting, well worth seeking out. (Don't ask, I have no clue why it's been released with so many different titles.) I strongly recommend it.

Mick,

If you look at the "Midway" trailer, it seems like it does an overview that includes Pearl Harbor and the Doolittle raid. Hopefully, that may mean they touch on the Coral Sea as well. Shadow Wolf 07 also pointed out that in the "Dauntless" trailer, they use a silhouette of a Lexington-class carrier, which could imply coverage of the Coral Sea battle...

...at either rate, it's better than flying B-25s off of a nuclear-powered flattop with Ben Arselick and Alec Baldwin. :costumed-smiley-034

Also, the stock footage of the 1976 Midway version is so bad, I literally watch it and make a list of every stock footage scene with wrong aircraft in it. Drives my wife nutso...

The probable reason is if using Internet Explorer rather than a more modern browser, links to movies, etc just show up as black rectangles in this forum.

Sorry, I hadn't seen Rami's forum post at all.

I was in such a hurry on my way to work.
I didn't see if anything had been posted about it.

ElsnerMarkus,

No problem, I already did something bone-headed today, so I'm not one to criticize others now. :sentimental:
