ATTN: redriver6 - BSG Thread

Eoraptor1

SOH-CM-2022
Okay redriver6. We have "Black bloody mutiny". (Quote comes from Horatio Hornblower) Looks like some of the furniture is going to get broken, but it does get the blood running quickly. Interesting how Starbuck is only disfunctional when no one is shooting at her. Now I don't particularly welcome the internal strife, but IMHO it's long overdue. The part of BSG I've found least true has been the amount of Cylon sympathizing amongst the Colonials, and I STILL say Baltar is a weasel.

couldn't agree more...but Gaeta is quickly approaching weasel stats.

he left the fleet to be the head weasel's aide, then betrayed the weasel, then went back to the fleet and is now betraying Adama.

i don't see him coming out of this one...

intresting that Starbuck has been treated worse by some of the crew than the Cylons...

If you've seen the Webisodes, it's pretty obvious that Geata doesn't see Gaeta coming out of this. Starbuck died and then came back to life. Who does that in the BSG universe? If I were a Colonial it would be a pretty obvious assumption that she's a Cylon. I don't believe it. I think she's something we haven't identified yet. Interesting how she used the Marine Corp motto to Apollo, but there are some definite connections between the Cylons, Colonials, and Earth, what with them hearing Bob Dylan and all. In the Star Wars Expanded Universe novels people are constantly quoting "The Charge of the Light Brigade". How would that happen "A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far Far Away?" Anyway, the Colonials have only themselves to blame; everybody in the sci-fi world knows that as soon as you let your computer networks acquire consciousness their next move is to exterminate you. What wrong with people? I'm surprised there hasn't been a Scream-type movie spoof on "How to survive a Science Fiction Movie".

PS If Panther were here he'd be arguing us to a nub as to why Baltar was no more a weasel than anyone else...

Could Gaeta be working with the Admiral or the President somehow?

A risky thing to attempt, but a good way to draw the dissenters out in to the open so they can be identified. Which is riskier? Not knowing who they are or when the uprising will be or doing it on your own timetable and drawing them out? Hmmm....

This never occurred to me. That's a very 24 like scenario. In the preview, we hear that Tigh was killed covering President Roslin's evac. I certainly don't believe that.

at first i didn't think to much of this theory however i don't believe Tigh is dead either and thinking back..how convenient it was for Starbuck to be sitting alone in the galley..almost like she was waiting for Gaeta..to have their little dust up in front of everyone...hmmm.

My my, things will get out of hand. Stands With a Fist was looking pretty fierce. I'm starting to see things Panther's way, what with Baltar showing signs of having a conscience. I had him as a total psychopath; no remorse; only anxiety at being caught. Let's be honset men. Most of us would've let Six make us "feel better".

Heh. "feel better". :jump:

Anyway, I guess I was tea-totally wrong.

I am shocked at how the vice president and the quorum (sp?) resolved their differences. Didn't see that one coming!

What's the deal with what Tyrol found in the FTL comparment? I think I know what it is... if I'm right, it will force the upgrading of the FTL drives!

I'm not sure what is was Tyrol found. It looked like some sort of rupture in the wall. I believe Adama said something about Galactica not having been in drydock for four years, and it was about to be decommissioned anyway and turned into a museum. The bolts might be flying off.

You spelled quorum correctly; it's a term from the Roman Republic; enough of the legislature present to make a legally binding proclamation. When Lucius Cornellius Sulla and Gaius Marius were feuding, they would switch out the Senate and Assemblies to get their legislation passed. Sulla was particularly ruthless; killing his senatorial enemies, and proscribing their children from holding office or owning property. This is the guy who gave Dictatorship (originally a temporary emerency measure) a bad name. A lot of what Julius Caesar ( a comparitively leninent dictator, but a dictator nonetheless) had to deal with was fear on the part of the Senatorial faction that he'd be another Sulla.

Forgive me; I'll lecture at the drop of a hat.

Anyway, I'll say it again: BSG is as well-written a drama as is currently on televison, and that includes critic's darlings like Mad Men, and high production soap operas like Desperate Housewives and Grey's Anatomy.

that would be a big ol crack in the hull....the Galactica may not be able to take another jump..

You see, that's why I'd prefer a good old-fashioned Federation Starship. BTW: I just got one of the AMT reissue Starship Enterprise model kits as a late Christmas present. If anyone at the SOH has built one of these since childhood, I'd appreciate any tips. I intend to take my time with this one.

JAMES

PS The new decal sheet includes the evil ISS Enterprise.
