Autogen tree reduction?

Hi,

Does anyone know what you have to do to apply the tweak that reduces the amount of Autogen trees from 1000 per sq. mile to 100 per sq. mile? I have heard that this can increase frames dramatically!! :jump:

Yes under the [TERRAIN] section of the fsx.cfg

edit the ... TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL section!

150 or lower will help if you have a lower spec system!

Mines set at 300 mate play around with it, it won't hurt anything!

Ahh... what to do if that line cant be found under the FSX.cfg????

this is my FSX.cfg file (Terrain section):
[TERRAIN]
LOD_RADIUS=4.500000
MESH_COMPLEXITY=75
MESH_RESOLUTION=20
TEXTURE_RESOLUTION=25
AUTOGEN_DENSITY=3
DETAIL_TEXTURE=1
WATER_EFFECTS=5
 
Yeah mate as above, tbh I never edited that section but you are able too, I used to edit it on my old system, but now I don't.
 
There are two lines to add in fact, one for the trees, and one for the buildings.
The default values are something like 4500 trees and 4000 buildings.

So you should add those lines:
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=xxx
TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=xxx

The buildings are more heavy on the FPS than the trees. On my previous computer, I had set the tweaks to 800 trees and 300 buildings, and that worked well. In the game settings, the autogen slider was kept to one crank below the maximum. (very dense, or something like that).
