Autopilot Question

If an autopilot won't track a heading input (GPS or a heading bug), where would be the most logical place to look to try to troubleshoot?

A few things come to mind.

One is a possible error in the [autopilot] section. Only way to find out would be to make a copy of your aircraft.cfg, and replace that section from another aircraft.

You didn't say how you set the heading bug. I typically use keyboard shortcuts, so I would check the keyboard commands in case they changed.

There are some payware aircraft that will not let you set autopilot settings due to some gauge design, etc. So in that case I search and read the manual. Typically it some gauge for enabling the autopilot. Once set I can then use the keyboard commands for heading and altitude.

I'm having the same exact problem. It's only on addon aircraft! I'm using Prepar3D v5.2 + hotfix.

I think I recall some of or all of these entries can also be relevant:

[direction_indicators]
//1 Type: 0=None, 1=Vacuum Gyro, 2=Electric Gyro, 3=Electro-Mag Slaved Compass, 4=Slaved to another
//2 Indicator number of slaving indicator if Type = 4
direction_indicator.0=3,0

[attitude_indicators]
//Type: 0=None, 1=Vacuum Gyro, 2=Electric Gyro
attitude_indicator.0 = 2
attitude_indicator.1 = 1

[turn_indicators]
//Type: 0=None, 1=Electric Gyro, 2= Vacuum Gyro
turn_indicator.0=0,0

lol, I'm sometimes a bit dense Mike. . .but not that dense. Yes, of course it has an Autopilot Section.
Some planes actually do not, (by mistake) unless added - I have had it happen from some freeware.

Anyway, I agree about checking the autopilot section carefully. Maybe an entry is missing or miss-spelled, like max bank angle, rate etc. You never know.

+1 I have found those entries missing on occasion in addon aircraft.:encouragement:
