AVG/Flying Tigers

According to the movie Fly Tigers they were already flying against the Japanese in China and Burma before the attack on Pearl Harbor. They actually saw their first combat on December 20,1941 over Kunming. The Japanese sent 10 bombers to bomb Kunming and 4 AVG P-40s intercepted them and drove them away. According to records 1 bomber made it back to base intact, all others were damaged or shot down.

I'll have to check this. They were there before, for sure, but not fighting yet if I remember well, the unit was not completely ready.

LZ the AVG's first action was December 20,1941 at Kunming. The movie was wrong.I did research from both sides.

I have a 4 hour long VHS tape of the AVG and from their perspective how all of this was..
Including interviews from the women (Nurses) who went to China with them..

Very interesting that the first major problem they encountered was the curried food!!
They Americans nearly went on Strike over it..According to the pilots..
As one said the Japanese were not nearly as dangerous as the curried food was..
:icon_lol: :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

The interviews are a wonderful way to hear from the men how it was for them..
Thanks for the missions Talon..
Bravo!

guess i better give some of the ship a reast and get my sally in gear

Mike,

The ships are more important.Even though the Sally was used more in the CBI and it was also used in the PNG.The AVG scenery still has along way to go.I'm just showing people the potential of RS.

BTW we need an Essex class carrier very badly.I know the list of ships you are working on but there was not an Essex class on it.
