AVH Effects Packs and ETO/MAW

This may sound obvious, but do I have to install these AVH effects (wep pak and so on) in both my ETO expansion folder as well as the one made by MAW?

:kilroy:Grumpy123, in a word, no. ETO is already rather thoroughly loaded with great effects, which include AvHistory effects. To be truthful, and with respect to AvHistory, the ETO effects are basically AvHistory effects added to ETO-specific effects. As far as I know, MAW also has AvHistory effects, and may get the ETO treatment in the future.:d
 
Some of the AVH aircraft require the effect packages, this is where my dilemma lies.

I am re-installing everything today, I've had the AVH effects on so long I don't know what the ETO ones look like heh. I haven't seen MAW yet but I downloaded all of the files -took forever- today.
 
Hi Grumpy,

All of the effects included with AvH effects are also included in the ETO effects file. You should be able to run any aircraft from AvH in your ETO install without any issues at all.

Its the same for the weapons, guns and pylons. the ETO includes all the AvH weapon files etc, but then has enhanced many of them in addition to our own weapons set in the ETO.

If you were to apply the straight AvH weapons set to either MAW or ETO you would be taking a step backwards.

As others have already stated. You do not want to add the AvH weapons pak to the eto. The latest release of the AvH weapons pak was used as the base for the pylons, weapons, guns, effects for the CFS3 ETO Expansion. From that point on as the eto was developed all of the above was improved and added to the point where we now have about one years worth of adjustments and improvements. To wholesale overwright the existing eto effects, weapons, guns, pylons at this stage would ruin the latest developments.

If you add an addon on aircraft which comes with extra pylons, guns, or weapons as part of the package,don't blindly overwrite any existing file within the eto. Only add the extra files if none exist in your eto install or the readme instructions state that the extra files supercede existing eto files.
