I recently installed Nigel's amazing FSX version of the Tutor into P3D V4.5 and it looks great and hand flies really well. I wanted to add a pop-up AP/radio panel and a GPS and hit all sorts of issues but I eventually got everything to play nicely together after several hours of hair pulling! The only issues I have now is with the P8 compass pop-up gauge which is acting very oddly and I haven't been able to fix it so I was wondering if anyone else had seen the same issue or if they they knew of a fix.
If you just set your desired heading on the outer compass ring to the 12 o'clock position and then manually turn the aircraft until the needle aligns with the lubber lines on the glass you are actually heading in the chosen direction as confirmed by the read-out on the Shift+Z info line. However, if you put the aircraft into AP heading hold and dial in a heading on the AP display the pop-up P8 compass does not follow the changes at the same rate and when the aircraft is finally heading in the correct direction as shown on the AP heading display and with Shift+Z the pop-up compass card is showing an incorrect heading value which is off by a considerable amount! If you now turn the pop-up compass ring to the heading on the AP display the AP display changes too and the aircraft flies on some arbitrary heading somewhere between the two values. It is really weird behavior that doesn't make sense to me. Obviously there is miss-communication somewhere between the AP code and the compass code but what and where I have not been unable to figure out.
Any ideas?
