B-17 Static or AI????

I am reworking an FSX airport at the moment and could do with finding a low-poly B-17 for scenery and/or for AI use. I have looked in the usual places but found nothing. Does anyone know if such a beast exists or am I going to have to make one? FS9 or even FS2002 may be usable as static objects or AI too.

The FDG2 B-17 donationware package has AI that come with it. I have spent many a peaceful minute flying patterns around those AI B-17s. Not sure if the Donationware page is working again or not.

Thanks OBIO but it looks like all links back to the FDG2 B-17 donationware package are dead. :crybaby:

There might be 'issues' with me using a donationware AI in what would be a freeware release anyway I guess.

The Alphasim freeware B-17s will work in FS2004....but they have the dreaded NO PROP issue. Not sure how they would do as AI in terms of frame rate issues. Let me do a bit of digging and see what I can come up with...I think I might know of a AI specific B-17....shall return shortly.

HA HA found it. Au-Mov...also known as Wozza and Warrick Carter and possibly a few other names that we don't know about did up an AI package for CFS2...not sure how well they will work with FS2004...but there are 3 AI B-17 versions in the package.

I just had the AI B-17s into FS2004. They show up, with props. They aren't pretty as they are very low poly count and multi-res to boot. They need work to function in Fs2004...perhaps taking the air and config files from the freeware AlphaSim Libs will get them to work.

Thanks for that OBIO. I have a thread with the same title running in the FSX forum as the airport I am working on will be for FSX.

Snuffy suggested contacting Scott at A2A to see about converting the old WOP B-17 to purely AI/static and that was a great idea especially as this field was a major training base for B-17 crews and will tie in nicely with the upcoming FSX B-17 with Accu-Sim.

Thanks for that Tom. It looks like the problem may be solved after some discussions I had earlier today.
