B-17 veteran back in air aboard a WWII-era bomber

It is great to hear about WWII vets getting to do this type of thing, and of course, my Uncle was a B-17 PIC during 1944-45 ...

Mike :salute:

One of my old customers, a local WWII vet, had some time in B-17s during the war too. Both right & left seat, but just in a transport role at Ascension Island.
Our local American Legion & VFW fronted the cash to get him a surprise ride in CAF's Sentimental Journey when it passed through up here a couple years ago.

I printed & framed up a couple pictures that I snapped of SJ and gave them to John shortly after his ride. His eyes were still gleaming from that ride when we visited.

Thanks Ickie. These are the stories that warm one's heart, when the elders open up & speak of the experiences.
What a great thing that this man got to ride again without getting shot down this time. Mighty good reading.

"They're all gone now, but I still have the memories," he said. "They were all kids then, just like myself."
