This is a repaint of the Fightertown Design Group 2 (FDG2) B-17E. It represents aircraft 41-2666 of the 43rd Bombardment Group. The crew referred to their plane simply as "Old 666", in reference to the tail number. On June 16, 1943, this aircraft and crew left Port Moresby for a photo reconnaissance mission over Bougainville and Buka islands in the northern Solomons.
