B-29 "Doc" first engine start

1,3, and 4 started quickly. #2 was a bit stubborn!

Probably just a glitch in the programming of one of the gauges :biggrin-new:

In general it's impressive that they could get all those moving parts working in unison. Hopefully we'll be able to keep a few people knowledgeable about the arcane workings of piston engines for a few more years. I'd love to be in Kansas when they take her flying.
 
Some old photos to provide a reminder of how far the aircraft has come since it was pulled out of the desert in 1998.







And a photo from 2010, shortly after "Doc" was forced out of its hangar in Wichita and restoration work fairly much came to a dead stop. It wasn't until early 2013 that work really got re-started, with the formation of "Doc's Friends" and the provision of a hangar again to complete the work.
