Back in time......The Petrelli Expedition

As published in Santiago de Chile´s "El Mercurio" Newspaper on the morning of March 21, 1931.

"Newspaper Management Editorial

Three months ago the famous Italian explorer Victorio Petrelli and his crew in one large sailing ship and a Junkers aircraft arrived in Valparaiso and began one of the most interesting of his ventures. Petrelli came to Chile to explore part of the Andes Mountains looking for remnants of "Poku-Ambu" the temple of the Puracana Indians who are supposed, according to old writtings and legends, flown all over the mountains in "goat skin" balloons powered by hot air.

Now a tragedy has struck the Italians. The ship while making a trip to the base station in the cold waters of the south has hit a hidden rock and according to reports coming from these areas, it is sinking slowly but surely. Petrelli has sent his aircraft, the Junkers powered by a powerful Italian Fiat engine, to locate the ship and bring back to his camp the very much needed supplies to continue this unusual expedition. Once the supplies are recovered he will set out with another pilot to search the "Hondo valley" where massive volcanos always threaten the neighborhood. If he finds the proof of the "flying in balloons indians" he will become famous and Chile will be a center of migration of other scientists as well tourists from both America and Europe. It is the hope of all in this newspaper that some pilots will come down and show their antics as barnstormes do in the the North and that the Italian Petrelli get his supplies from the sinking vessel and continues to complete his mission until an outstanding success is gotten..

So....a new type of adventure has taken shape!!!!...this is the procedure which will be followed by this sole developer and happy dude.

1) A special Junkers11 has been prepared with the mentioned Italian Fiat reciprocating engine. The expedition colors have been applied at this time.
2) Scenery for the Flight will begin by opening FSDS for new objects and others to generate the needed ---Airfields and towns---which will be uploaded as scenery first and then the Mission will beggin.
--For those who do not like Missions, they can use the airfields on their own as they may wish...realizing that these will be in very dangerous mountain passes, gorges and really crazy mountain areas which may cause danger to the pilot and aircraft....

3) Two episodes are planned:

Episode I.... " Checking the docking area, for the ship, and the landing areas for the aircraft, to deside where the main camp will be set up way up high in the southern Andes".....it will get a name in due time.

Episode II....The main adventure, getting the supplies from the sinking vessel and then zipping of to the mountains to search for the temple and the doggone goat balloons.....

Result of this running around?...either Vitorio finds the temple and the balloon stuff or by some mistake in flying or navigation his pilot (you?) crashes of simply never gets the guy to his destination and success.

Time to completion of this projecto: You never know nor I.

One thing fer sure guys it will be a fun project and hopefully you will eventually enjoy it as much as I will enjoy making it......

That´s my peace for the day.................................:pop4:

OK, two planes will be used, one in floats and one with wheels...with skis?? hummmm:pop4:

The adventure has begun..........................................:isadizzy:
