Hi

I am back into CFS2 and need some info ...please.

What NEW effets, planes, sound, land & water textures, ect. And what do you suggest as well. I know there must be a slew of stuff out there and would like to know what you think I should get .... you know , have to's. And what new payware planes that will work in CFS2 and can they be converted or where to get ?

Oh, I remember there was some "scream" sounds way back then and were great. Where might they be [if sill avaliable] and how did ya install them...ie in the DP file ? ?

Thx in advance

Edit 1

Also there was a program to add weapons on planes ...ie, American, German , ect and it displayed a wire frame of the aircraft and displayed the cordinaces <??

Welcome back to CFS2, and welcome to the Basement if you have not been here before.

Depending on how long you have been away from CFS2, you may find that a lot of new stuff has been produced in just the last two years.

Rhumbaflappy has created new world mesh that makes CFS2 look better than the newer flight sims in terms of terrain detail and accuracy. I use this mesh to make Flight Sim 2004 look far better than it did out of the box.....it is simply amazing stuff. You can find this mesh, in LOD5, 7 and 8, here in the CFS2 library by using the Author search box at the bottom of the main download page and scrolling through the list until you find Rhumbaflappy. 4 pages of files to down load, plus a couple of files that need to be obtained from another site (I will have to do a search for the original thread and give you the links to those files).

I have a User's Guide that I need to finish off and get posted to help explain how to install this mesh in such a way that it can be shared between multiple installs of CFS2 and between the various sims that it can be used in (CFS2, FS2002, FS2004 and FSX). I wrote it up for the folks over in the FS2004 forum, so I just need to make a few tweaks here and there for it to apply to CFS2.

______________

Sounds....tons of new aircraft sound packages. Hit the CFS2 sound library here and shop to your heart's content. Lawdog has new sound packs that are superb. I have used Lawdog's sound packs to create sound packs for various planes.

_______________

Planes....can't even begin to list them all. Just spend some time scrolling through the CFS2 library here, on Simviation.com, Flightsim.com and AVsim.com. Lots and lots of good stuff out there to be had.

Thx for the info, appreciate it much, been away for quite some time

Question, will the following payware planes work in CFS2, by converting them?

WOP, Sky Unlimited, Real Air, and Alpha Bleu Ciel F4U

Thx Again

I think there's no problem with the Sky Unlimited stuff. Can't help with the others.

IIRC some of these aren't particularly frame-rate friendly and it may be better for you to get hold of CFS2 specific aircraft.

Some of the Sky Unlimited aircraft are multi-lod and fully convertible to CFS2 (The Bf-109f and MiG-3 are perfect examples of this) but the Flight Replica Bf-109s and the Me-262 are not.

Gotcha Covered

Yo Jug;

Yup, it's one of my favorite effects: "Pilot Kill" by Nibbio
It contains 2 FX & 4 sound files. Installs via an entry in the Effects area of the .dp

Replace the following lines (n is the number of the pilot system effects, varies with the aircraft):

[EFFECTS.n]
; System = Pilot
effect.0=95,LIBRARY,fx_smkpuff_m,
effect.1=100,DEATH,,

with these:

[EFFECTS.n]
; System = Pilot
effect.0=15,LIBRARY,fx_pilwound,
effect.1=60,LIBRARY,fx_pilwound,
effect.2=95,LIBRARY,fx_pilkill,
effect.3=100,DEATH,,

Find it here: http://web.tiscalinet.it/jobim/cfs2/pilotkill/pilotkill.html

This modification enables two new sound effects, designed to provide more feedback to the player whenever he wounds or kills an enemy pilot.
CFS2 does in fact include the pilot in the aircraft damage model, but only a small smoke puff indicates that the pilot has been wounded or killed.
In the past I had tried various graphics effects triggered by a pilot kill, but none was in my opinion really good enough or realistic enough.
Finally it dawned on me that I could use a sound effect.

After installing this modification you will hear a short scream when you wound the enemy pilot, and a long blood curling scream if you kill him.
Note that the screams are effect sounds coming from the enemy pilot: I made them very loud but you will have to be pretty close in order to hear them over the noise of the engines and of the machine guns (you'd better be pretty close anyway if you want to score hits on the pilot, it's difficult and requires excellent marksmanship).
How close should you be? In testing I found that the screams can be heard from 200 yards, but ideally you should be closer that 150 yards.

Oh, of course you will hear the screams also in the event that one of your wingmen is hit close by... and in case you happen to be the target, you will be the one screaming ;-) - Nibbio

There is another addon built upon this called: "Pilot Kill - Screaming Barracks"

This causes CFS2 buildings to produce the Pilot Kill sounds when hit.
Just add the Pilot Kill entry to the Effects area of any .dp for a building, gun, foxhole, vehicle, ship etc....

Dunno who did this one .... PM me yer email addy & I'll zip & ship it to you.

Dirtman

Thx for the reply, I found the "Pilot Kill" scream effects on a CD thant I had with other old effecrs in, and installed them. And as you say ....they are the best.
Are there other Explosion, mid air and ground effects out there, I tried the latest ones, but do not like the "bright" colors [no offence to author], that are not so intense?.

Thx again to all replys

I plan on uploading a package similar to the pilot kill effects tommorow. Its called Italian Pilot Effects. The biggest difference is when a pilot gets wounded he screams "Dios Mio!" (My God!).

Dirtman to the rescue

Tried to get them but....NOT available, also did a search here and there is only 1 of Blades124 d/l. Is there any where else where I can get them ?
Thx

Yo Jug;

Gee .... imagine that .... a broken link in the CFS2 d/l section ... after 6 months of doing little or nothing; I cannot help but wonder if SOH will ever bother to fix them?

Never the less my friend; I can help you out here. PM me yer email info & I'll zip & ship "Blades Effects" to ya. (500KB)

OK Dusty Butt! You have been found guilty of treason against the mother land and must hang by your tiny testies until they turn blue. Wait just a minute while I get the dental floss to do the dirty deed, the kite string is too thick. AAARRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!
