Whilst experimenting with reinstalling FS9 my graphics card and ultimately W7 gave up the ghost, so I took the opportunity to upgrade to W7-64 and reinstall FSX.

It is really interesting seeing the sort of default performance you can get from a bare-bones FSX install that hasn't been weighed down with hundreds of add-ons. I think sometimes we forget that it's actually not a bad little sim just the way it came.

Now to reinstall all those add-ons :)

"Just the way it came" implies no service packs as well. And FSX without those essential patches was dang awful, to say the least. ;) :d
