Back to CFS2

After being away for many years i have found that CFS2 still has a lot to offer. Been into CFS3 and IL-2 '46 for a long time and just got curious about CFS2. Did some searching and WOW! There are still fans out there! The screen shots look great and there seems to be a great number of things for the ETO. Time to get busy and reinstall CFS2 and start modding all over again! Thanks for the inspiration . Regards,Scott

Welcome back sixstrings...... yep, CFS2 is still alive and kicking and maybe better than ever.

It seems to be. A lot of work has been done since i've been away. Like the Pacific Theater of Operations too and really interested in the ETO also and CFS2 can cover both to a great degree. Got int IL-2 1946 and the expansions for it because CFS3 lacks most needed Russian and Japanese aircraft for those theaters. CFS2 seems to have it covered and is familiar,(or was), to me. Have 10 installs of CFS3 and 4 of IL-2'46 . Now i will have one CFS2 for the PTO and another for the ETO. Very much excited to get started again. Will be check in more often to find out all i can to get started. Still have the boxed set and will dust it off. How well does it run with Win.7 64bit ? Is there anything special i need to do ? How do i run more than one copy ? Have many more questions but will try to read all i can to find out more. Regards,Scott

For Win7: Install CFS2 into the Program Files86 folder under Microsoft Games. Set yourself as administrator and set, via the control panel, the user account controls to zero. You should be fine.

Thanks Guys ! I get better responses here than i do on the CFS3 page. I'll get around 500 views and not one answer there ! Strange people on the CFS3 page.:dizzy::a1089: Regards,Scott

Six Strings,

Great to see you around these parts again! At the rate things are going, you may need a Mediterranean install as well, but a PTO and ETO are good starting points. I'll be busy with my grad classes this semester, but if there is anything I can do to help, let me know!

Thank you guys so much ! Can't wait to get started. Seems much easier than CFS3 to get up and running multiple installs. Been checking things out in the warbirds section and wow ! There is a ton of stuff ! I know how i'll spend my weekend now ! Regards,Scott

Got all the CFS2 magazines downloaded and started reading them. Wish we had this for CFS3. A lot to relearn after being away for so many years. Will try my hand at modding the PTO first and move on from there. Thanks guys for pointing me in the right direction to get started. Love the screenshot thread . Really got me motivated ! Cheers,Scott

Got CFS2 installed and tested. All is good ! Runs super smooth with the best settings too.Now to start adding aircraft and all that i can. The old addiction now starts ! Still have a ton of CD's with all the old addons but there is still a lot of new stuff to be had. Did i say i was excited ! Cheers,Scott

Scott:

Save some room in your AIRCRAFT and SHIPS folders for planes and ships, required for various campaigns you download. The max number is + or - 100 for ships and about 80 for planes.

If you want best performance for your "stock" planes, download and install The B-24 Guy's OH or overhaul mods for the stock planes. For the ships, PEN32WIN's dps (afshipdp0307) mods.

For some great effects see Nanni's page: http://web.tiscali.it/Nanni/CFS/ and on his page go to the Links tab and scroll down to the Mods, tools and other section and go to Nibbio's CFS2 page for more great effects.

Sixstrings,

Welcome! You may be interested in the Legacy sections in the CFS2 Library. There are 4. Kelticheart, Usio, Talon and Akemi did a lot of great work and added a great deal to this sim and its enjoyment. As you are starting in the PTO may I suggest that the scenery by Maskrider and Pen32Win are indispensable, and UncleTgt's work on New Britain and New Ireland really give missions and campaigns around Rabaul an air of reality. I hope you have lots of free space on your Hard Drive!
Cheers,
Ravenna

Thanks guys for all the advice ! Not use to all this help. You guys here on the CFS2 page are the most helpful of anywhere else i've been. Still like CFS3 and IL-2 '46 but i am so very glad i came back to CFS2. You fellas make it all worthwhile and easy to get started again after being away for so many years. Excited to get started again ! Thanks,Scott
