Balloon Hunting Campaign

I have done some minor mods to the campaign files that allow me to go balloon hunting (not the healthiest thing to do!) on almost every mission with Frank Luke or the boys in the 94th (it can work for British, German or French as well) in September of 1918 (or any other time) .

It's been great fun.

As I mentioned it's a very minor mod and I will probably make it available in the future for all aspiring balloon hunters .....also plenty of air to air as well.

Mk2 your pics look like fine paintings to me. Frank Luke the "Arizona Balloon Buster" a hell of a guy. Too bad you weren't in his plane for these pics but very sweet.

Thats is a good idea. I will try to get those in the future. This sim has so much to offer that I have not even gotten to experimenting and trying the different skins included in the game.

If you enjoy popping gas bags, Google: Willy Coppens . . ACE From Belguim in 1916. He was the original "Balloon Buster"
He had 34 balloons, and 3 aircraft, when he lost a leg.

He had a unique tactic of flying extremely high, over the balloon, and cut his engine. Then silently dive at his target, when he got within gun range, he'd let his gun announce his presence, the ground gunners couldn't shoot at him ( the balloon was in the line of fire ). It would seem that if you're going fast enough, you can restart without somebody spinning your prop for you. So he'd restart and Fly away at top speed. Hopefully the balloon is History
