I decided to have a go at a bare metal scheme from scratch using the knowledge I had gained from all my recent repaints of the A2A P-51 and the excellent bare metal effect used on that. I am actually quite pleased with it and think it looks pretty darn good even if I do say so myself
. What do you think?
While looking at the side view above I started thinking 'Hmmm, those ribbons on the side look a bit like smoke trails....I wonder.......!' Sometimes I get wacky ideas like that and I usually find that I am not satisfied unless I give in to my urges. I knew you could get the smoke effect to fade out and I knew you could make it go paler as it faded BUT....could you get it to change colour over time. Well, after several hours of tweaking the effects file, testing, re-tweaking, re-testing etc. I finally got something I liked and it is certainly errr.....different!
The smoke starts out as yellow and then transitions to purple over time. I realise that it would never happen like that in the real world but it is a lot of fun and it certainly adds another dimension to my paint scheme. When I upload it I will include the new effects file with instructions on how to use it.
