Battle of France

Having installed the Battle of France I cannot get it to launch. I reinstalledbut no change.I then tried a 2nd auto install, over the top of the 1st, but again no change. I click the cfs.exe and the I get a list of "Images cannot be loaded". There 17 of these e.g."colorchips[16]" and having
clicked OK to each get eventually to the start splash screen.
From there there is no further progress, just a dingdong from whatever I click on. I have to control/alt/del to exit.

Any ideas as to what I might do?

Peterpan,

What is your operating system? Where are you installing it to? It you're using Windows 10, it won't run with the CD. :santahat:

I'm happy to help, once I have more details...

Hi Rami,
I have W10 Pro 64bit. I don't need to use a CD, for each new install I just copy one of the clean install and rename as appropriate.
I hope that helps you

Rami,
I've looked at the thread it seems basically about initial problems with W10. I do not have any such problems, I built the PC to be able to cope.
The only problem I've had was, recently, Microsoft decided to clear out all unused files and took away about a 100GB of CFS1,2,3 downloads.
These went back to when the problems were starting I just dl'd everything from all sites e.g AvH, netwings, SOH, 4 cats etc. to preserve them. I did offer them to SOH in 16/17 but didn't get a response.
My membership goes back to early noughties, but after my move in 7/17 new email etc. I wasn't recognised. So now there is an 'n' in my name.
Obviously I can get to the files but would need guidance to do anything.

Peterpan,

Okay, this is where I am confused. The downloads from the Battle of France should install most, if not all, of the parts you need for the aircraft, scenery, and ships. Nearly everything is included. One thing I would emphasize is that because the program was based on a 32-bit OS, you need to make sure your installed are placed in the Program Files (x86) folder, not the Program Files folder.

When you run the installer, do you direct it to the install you want to use? Are all of the files there?

Regarding your second question, did you go through the library as constructed now and determine what is missing, cross-referenced with what you have?

I'll be around to help most of this week, just let me know how I can help guide you through.

Hi Rami,

The install goes nowhere neat the C drive. My PC has 3 HDD 2x1TB and a 3TB.
C drive is in the 1st partition 100GB. 2nd partition E drive 100GB is my CFS drive.
Your install goes therefore to E:/Combat Flight Simulator 2/FoB.
W10 64bit is designed so it can use and work with 32bit, perhaps just a little better.
Which library are you asking me to go through?
How can I cross reference what I have. e.g an aircraft or what's inside the folder.
Can you test a new download of FoB and installed it on a clean drive, as I have done, the problem could then be there.

One possibility is my Norton antivirus has blocked some part or parts as insecure. Anything of XP 20 year old origin would get such a reaction.

Thanks in advance for you perseverence.

Peterpan,

Norton may be a culprit here. This installer was tested numerous times before its final incarnation, so I can't see how that would be an issue now. :santahat:

Rami,

Interesting.

I r/clicked on 1a Application. From the display I selected Norton 360 then Clicked "File Insight"
A top was a comment "Fewer than 5 Norton users"
At bottom on right was "Unproven" along side I clicked "Trust Now" It then becomes "User Trusted"
I then repeated this for 1b Application.
For 1c "Unproven" had become "Good". Still had to change Trust Now.
For 1d same procedure.

I'll now do a reinstall over the top of the existing one. If that fails I'll delete the install and do another from the beginning.
Cross fingers, please

Reporting Back.

The install over the existing one didn't work, same problems, so uninstalled to trash bin.
A fresh install didn't work either same problems, binned,

THINK.

Decided to clean up the disk partition. 1st ran "Ccleaner" (a usual practice I do at the end of each day) to clean out all junk.
The ran it again on drive wipe free space, overwrite 7 times.
Then ran "Defraggler" (the partition was in a mess) after analyzing checked File List (defrags in situ) then checked Drive and defragged again. This fills up gaps and condenses files. I recommend both these programs, as problem solvers.

Fresh install, loading TR_BF110_C last adding the sound etc. Opened the Program to click on the cfs.exe but found NO FILES below the yellow boxes. Binned the install and repeated all the above.

Started fresh install by loading the TR_BF110_C first. Checked the install AGAIN NO FILES!! Decided to get round this problem by renaming 110. Binned again.
Fresh Install. SUCCESS!!! No missing images but would not start without the 110. There isn't another in the install so went to my ETO install and there found the TR_BF110_C so copy pasted it to BOF.

BOF now runs OK. Bit odd that in Quick Combat the opposition are Japanese.

Peterpan,

Make sure to read all of the instructions, there are some things I could not include that you have to download manually, Tango Romeo’s Bf-110c is among them.
