BDP Zapper

Can someone enlighten me briefly. I never did understand what the BDP Zapper is used for in CFS3 addons. I Googled for an explanation but found no information explaining this.

Hi Waco,

the bdp file is a simplified version of the data contained in all the various files that make up an item in CFS3 such as aircraft, vehicles, etc etc.

If you change any of the data housed in say the xdp file for an aircraft, before that change can be fully recognised in game you need to delete the bdp file. the game will build a new bdp file to replace the deleted one on start up. this new bdp file will now reflect the change you made in the xdp file.

It became really important to delete the bdp files when building update patches for the various CFS3 addons so that when people flew online the information in each and every players aircraft folders was exactly the same. otherwise you got missmatch errors when trying to join a server.

so building a bdp zapper which targeted the correct relevent files to be deleted was one way of ensuring that everybody had deleted the same files, ready for the game to build a new version.

regards Rob.
