Beechcraft D-18 conversion

OBIO

Retired SOH Admin
I just caught the tail end of The Body Guard...the Whitney Houston/Dances With Wolves movie guy...why can't I remember his name. Anyhow, behind him there is a tri-cycle geared conversion of the Beechcraft D-18...possibly one of the Volpar conversions. Beautiful plane...wish they would have shown more of it!

Beech 18s should all be tail draggers as Walter intended ;)
:applause:

The only exception should be to hang floats. There was a Volpar conversion hanging around CYWG that I could never take a liking to. It just looked ungainly and not right.

Why'd you think I did a Volpar for FS9...

I had access to a real one...

Very nice plane. The Owner is a Master A&P/IA who also owns a "regular" Beech 18 as well as a currently dismantled DC-3

Bob is pushing 80 years old, still flies both 18's and still wrenches full time...

I fly your Volpars quite frequently....they are among my top 10 fave planes to zip about in (along with your Cessna 120/140, Piper Pacer series and the Stinson Voyager...still good models for being so "old"). I am working on the paint template that I started over a year ago...really jazzing it up. New engine details, revamping the VC, giving the plane new wheels...really giving it a working over.
