FS2002/FS2004 Bell P-59A Airacomet. This was the first United States jet fighter aircraft, designed and built during World War II. The USAAF was not impressed by its performance and cancelled the contract when fewer than half of the aircraft ordered had been produced. Although no P-59s went into combat, it paved the way for another design generation of U.S. turbojet-powered aircraft and was the first turbojet fighter to have its turbojet engine and inlet nacelles integrated within the main fuselage. There is a VC; somewhat basic and non-functional except for the gauges but good enough to fly from. The model is nice and comes with three versions: Clean, pylons and with droptanks installed. The airfile is not bad either, not nearly as supersonic as some of his early work!

The bad news, taken from the read me...

I might not keep making the aircraft any further.
The screen is not seen well.
The left eye seems to have caused the hemorrhage of the eye ground with detached retinas.
There is a right eye at risk, too.
Though my only enjoyment disappears..................

Man, I was afraid this would happen sooner or later. His eyesight has been at risk for some time now and since it sounds as though it's something that cannot be corrected he was bound to get to a point where he would have to stop.

Very sad news indeed.

His latest VC are still a huge leap from his earliest attempts and a welcomed addition from the models he had with no VC at all.

Thanks for the HU F409.

Ito-san, what a star he is! :applause:

Isn't that sad though, something that he obviously enjoys very much and is superbly tallented at, being taken away...

He's been so very generous it's a shame there's nothing that we could do to re-pay that.

Many thanks Ito-san...:ernae:

yeah , that would be a nice way to show how important his contribution is for this hobby .
thanks to him , many weird and truly unusual designs ( as well as many fantasies for sci-fi geeks like me with such models as mothra or the arcadia pirate spaceship ) have been gracing the virtual skies .

If I'm not mistaken Ito-san lives in Japan. Is there someway in taking up a collection at this end to purchase a gift card that could be used in Japan?

BradK and Daveroo,
Both sound fine ideas! Maybe Brads now and if (?) the terrible happens then.......

I personally think he has give many thousands of sim fans so many great models (and free!) that I for one would put my hand in my pocket for a gift, I hope others would agree.

Maybe Ickie (if I'm not being too presumptuous?) could use SOH PayPal to collate monies?

Mr. Ito has been an asset to the FS community for many years and is a real gentleman! Count me in !

Ito-san

I am very sad to hear of Ito-san's health problems. My Grandpa was a good painter and he lost his vision due to diabetes and it was very hard on him.
If I may make a suggestion for a gift, how about one of those super detail die-cast models, so he can feel the shapes and rivets and such. I know he has stated that for him it was about the models and designs, not the airfiles and other details for flight sim..
Count me in for a donation once all is decided.

Regards, Rob:ernae:
