It is a real airplane.... Looks like something right out of Crimson Skies!

They started work in 1940 interrupted by war, started again in 1942-3 - a really sleek design compared to some of the stuff the Soviets put out.

pictured over the only Soviet ship I could find -the battleship Marat ( it's from a ship website on Jaxon's link page

Hi Rami - thanks for the tip about Sully's destroyer - and wbuchart - that Fairchild F91 looks tempting, especially as one flew under RAF colours in Egypt during the war - maybe later - must do some more on the Be-4

baldy

Hi Baldy,

The Fairchild F-91 has been produced by Chris Herring for FS2004, and can be found in the library.
Converts pretty well with MDLC;
Needs a convenient airfile and a DP file.
The proposed textures are a bit rough, and need to be re-done.
Proposed textures are fo a Japan model, and two versions of the RAF version.
You can find nice texture models on Wings Palette, including a Spanish Republican version

Hi fde

didn't realise it had already been done and it would have had to join a queue anyway - but I'll keep it in mind

baldy

here is another with similar lines...

Chetverikov MDR-6

it has the same overly large engine look. I will say that the Beriev Be-4 is very unique looking when compared to other flying boats and seaplanes of the time.

Baldy,

I discovered since my last message, that Mick Morrissey had been making revised texture for the IJN version together with a very nice Spanish Republican texture. Both textures can be found in the Library.

Hi fde

after your first message i tried converting the FS9 mdl but it failed, have you converted it to cfs2 and if so could you send me a copy of the mdl file ( i'll PM my email address to you )

cheers

baldy

After the diversion into F 91 territory I'd like to return to the Be-4 which I am uploading as we speak - a simple skin only ( plus a blank set ) because skinning is not my strong point

hope you like it

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - Russian

Description: A sleek deign made ugly by the hump on its back, The Be-4 first flew in 1940 but after two were built production was interupted by the German invasion. Production moved to Central Asian factory which made a further forty or so. Some flew off Black Sea Fleet cruisers and others were patrol planes in the Sea of Azov/Black Sea theatre.

You got me inspired Baldy!!

I've started working on a set of high-def textures for your model... very interesting and quaint one!
