Best freeware clouds?

Finally got GW3 to look good on my FsX pc and I'm spending a little more time back in Bill Lyons country:icon_lol:

I'd like to improve the appearance of cloud textures, higher res the better. I'm limiting payware to my FsX install so I'm for freeware if possible.

Thanks,

Roger.

Don't know if they are 'the best' but I'm quite happy with the clouds in FS Sky World 2004, which you can find at Avsim. Plenty of different clouds and sky textures to choose from.

:)

I'm with Ferry on this. The FS Sky World clouds are one of those things which keep me starting up GS9 instead of FSX.

Clearly you can't load them alone as each category is in a folder so I assume that I need to download a base pack to enable them?

Hi Roger
Do a search over at avsim.com for oscar-clouds.zip
it only replaces the cumulus01.bmp but I like :)

FS Skyworld 2004 is the best of the best. And it does not offer only clouds, but it also offer some different sky colors.

No you don't need to download any additionnal file !
You simply have the FS SkyWorld 2004 main archive, and there is just one patch to fix some textures, and that's all.
You lanch the interface, choose a cloud set that you like, click on "install" and you're done. Same goes for the sky colors.

The one hitch I have with FS SkyWorld is often I fly with real-world weather and have no clue what it is. (I like a challenge on those carrier landings:icon_lol:)

Also, how are they on frames? I run off a laptop ( I know its not ideal, but it's what I have:banghead:) and that's always my first question.

sky world question

Just downloaded sky world 2004 and patch. Runs great on fs9. I also run Silver wings. Can someone give me an idea how to install Sky Word onto Silver Wings? I can't seem to find a way to change Sky World's installation path.

Thanks

Barry if you name a text file Fs9 and then change the .txt to .exe so it looks like Fs9.exe and place it in the GW3 main folder, that may be enough to fool it. It works for some installers.
