There seems to be an uptick in Political comments in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religious comments out of the forums.
If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

I appreciate your sentiment, but people (at least I have...) paid more for OFF3 than for any other computer-based game they've bought. Given this fact, they have the right to ask questions. It isn't about "giving them a break", they want support.
THE FACT IS, there are no easy answers for the myriad of problems experienced, by the myriad of rigs running it. Period. After much tweaking (which to tell you the truth I couldn't replicate), I've managed to get some acceptable fps on a strong but older rig. Now OFF3 looks like OFF2, but with better AI, so there you go. I'll take that, for now.
I can imagine that the OFF team will do their best to help in the future, and for that I will thank them. I can see that they are pulling their hair out on this forum (!!!), but again, people have paid a premium for this DVD so they have to toe-the-line. It has become a business, they must expect that. The gloves are OFF (sorry for the pun).
It ain't a mod anymore...

Vanator you are clearly an unhappy customer and that does raise a bit of concern for me but the general feedback we have had so far is most of our customers are happy.
There have been 2 posts so far where users have reported little difference between P2 and P3 and I guess its either that you are still running P2 (maybe it did not install properly) or that you are running P3 at very low slider settings - or that you are so unhappy you do not want to acknowledge the difference.
The 1.5 years on P3 were not a dream for us - but then again each to his own I am comfortable with this.
In terms of "gloves off" etc - well P1 and P2 were basically free and there were still many many posts that were "gloves off" and frankly we see no difference other than this time donations are kinda forced so the blows hurt less.
Please note OFF is very much still a mod as we are an addon to CFS3 - and that is the only way we can release OFF legally.
We have never tried to punt P1,P2 or P3 as a standalone game.
To see the differences between P2 and P3 is not hard - I just hope you are running P3 and not P2. Certainly most of the P2 users have seen the considerable difference including a lot of extra aircraft and ground units
Lets see an Addon craft for FSX can be a full game price....yes we are very happy with our price too!
FPS - I am still running OFF P3 on the exact same hardware that I developed P2 on and I am running the exact same slider settings - I have about a 5 - 10% drop in FPS but given my rig is now what 2,5 years old I am happy with that.
Support and issues - well the issues that we have identified as reproduceable on our rigs so far is posted in the sticky section above and is being worked on.
We monitor and help as much as we can and we will support an patch until we are happy thatthe product works for most customers.
Why most? Well there are always people that can never be happy with a game (I did say game) and forums all over the world are evidence of that.

An excellent point, and one that shouldn't be overlooked.
Not trying to sound like a cheerleader, but I donated twice in an attempt to support development of this addon, then happily paid the retail price and shipping costs for the current version, and I'm still convinced I got a helluva bargain. I'm also confident that whatever performance issues are affecting certain users will be addressed by the team at OBD. They do have a reputaion of listening and responding to concerns that have been, and are being raised by their loyal (and oftentimes not-so-loyal) fans....unlike some very large software development teams who shall remain nameless of course *cough*.
I feel for those among us whose systems are struggling to provide a reasonable balance of graphics detail and performance levels. Perhaps I'm just fortunate that the game runs very, very smoothly at high detail settings on my specific system (which I might add, is hardly state of the art by today's standards....well except for the GPU.....maybe).

I for one take the line that the Dev's didn't have to make the game, so I am mega chuffed they did. As for the price, I think £49 for a game I'll be playing for prob. 2-3 years is a knockdown bargain; for example I bought Halo 3 on Xbox360 for my son for about £20, - he finished the whole blimmin SP game in a weekend! ( and that was only a few hours each day allowed on!) Also, the fact that you can converse with the devs on a daily basis, and they care and help, is better support than any corporate game releaser can come up with:amen:. I hope that the problems that occur can be brought up in a polite, positive manner, in keeping with our angelic personalities:argue: hee!
