I seem to be into scenery as much as I am into aircraft at the moment!

OrbX/FTX scenery is setting the standard for me - its really at a new level. I spend most of my flying time in NA (usually PNW) or Australia. Then I visit the UK where I use UTX/GEX and the UK2000 airports.

But, I have been wondering about other parts of the world - particularly mainland Europe. I know that there is plenty of scenery available. But, is there any really great scenery available? Suggestions welcomed.

BTW, I usually fly low so autogen is a must for me.

Paul, you should check out the scenery made by Laurent Dupouey - FranceVFR. He not only makes wonderful mesh and aerial photographs, PLUS manual placed autogen, he now also has quite a few nice airfields to go with it. Covers much of France already. http://www.francevfr.com/

Of course all the German Airports scenery at Aerosoft is good as well.
 
Personally I like the Horizon photo scenery with the UK2000 airports - love being able to fly over places I used to live. Combined with Aerosoft London X it's about as much as my system can handle at the moment.

I hear the German scenery packages are good and there are lots of airfields for Germany, also Switzerland X is supposed to be good.

I have the OzX Tuscany and the free photo scenery for spain, but I don't fly there very often.

Alderney and Guernsey have also been modelled in great detail.
 
For military, I have a few suggestions:

Back in Canada, Flight Ontario has finished converting most of their superb FS9 WWII BCATP to FSX. I can vouch for this being an absolutely fantastic "vintage" scenery for any fans of the RCAF/RAF.

I'm tracking all the vintage (roughly pre 1960) airfields/airports for FSX. Lately, I've focused on testing all the superb FS9 Calclassic sceneries for compatibility in FSX. Surprisingly, many of them work perfectly.

Check out Earth Simulations. They have Alderney and the Isles of Scilly, which are beautifully done. Kind of niche, I suppose, but real flagship products.
 
EarthSim also do a large chunk of the Midlands too.For some reason it isnt currently working for me(I mucked up the install I think) but the support in getting this fixed has been superb, utterly 1st class.They also have some freeware landmarks.

There is also a website that has pretty much AL of Spain in photoreal, but my link for that has gone(annoying, as I was going to d/l the rest...anyone got a link?)

And for the USA, blueskyscenery have photoreal stuff from Denver west to San Francisco.

For the last two, although free, you pretty much HAVE to get a premium subscription to Megadownload, to avoid huge waiting times!
 
For terrian/regions - You cannot go past Orbx, they release them regullary (ive been a customer since October 2009 and have 5 regions and have 2 more to get! [AU RED, NA NRM] aswell as some airports.

GA airports - Orbx aswell, I like YBUD as it is my favourite place to take my spit up at the moment! FlyTampa Grenadines is another fantastic set of GA airports.

International Airports - This is my personal opinon, but im not too much of a fan of orbx airports and that is probably due to my system not able to run them. The detail is there (when the ground polys are!), but the FPS do not really cut it for me but I do still use them sometimes. For international airports, I would go for FlyTampa or FlightBeam's new KSFO.
 
Paulb, I've been taking a look to a lot of sceneries, and for the freewares it's nearly impossible to find anything that looks like OrbX.

There's just one bunch of packages that I would recommend you anyway.
It's called Norway Scenic X. I call it "the freeware FTX". It makes Norway extremely detailled and nice to explore. I'm talking abouth the following archives:
- Airports of Norway (some major civil+military airports) http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/fsx/scenery/europa/norge/1296.html
- Airstrips of Norway (some VFR airifielfds here and there) http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/fsx/scenery/europa/norge/4.html
- Norway Scenic X (global Landclass for cities, forests and most important: shorelines!!) http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/fsx/scenery/europa/norge/24.html
- Norway Mesh (made for FS9, works perfect in FSX) http://www.flightsim.no/fsno/filbibliotek/FS2004/scenery/europa/norge/114.html

My feeling about this combination is simple to explain: when I'm not flying above OrbX PNW, I'm flying above Norway.
