In case you're wondering what Rene and I have been getting up to, here's the answer - the next in our chronological series of Bf109s, namely the G-10. Despite the sequence of mark numbers, the G-10 actually entered service after the G-14, similarly to the Spitfire IX and VIII.
This one is from the initial production run, the only series of G-10s produced by Messerscmitt before tooling up for the Karl. Most G-10s were produced by Erla - in a markedly different version - and WNF. The WNF type is the best known. One of the things which has been holding me up in fact is trying to come to grips with the numerous sub-types...
This is a Bf109G-10/U4 with the DB605DBM engine with MW50. It retains the early G-6 type wings but has the Messerschmitt (as opposed to Erla) cowling, which identifies it as one of the first production batch. Rene has done a specific 1% air file to reflect the use of B4 fuel and the MW-50 boost system.
Coming soon!
Future versions will cover Erla and WNF types with both DBM and DCM engines.
