Hi all,
the Marysville speedway in Marysville california,35-40 miles north of sacramento, held a "bigrig race last saturday night.two trucks got together and merle shelter( i might bewrong on his last name) got turned over, they didnt put roll cages in these trucks, because they felt they wouldnt be turned over..never assumne?,,,anyway mearle was crushed to death when the cab structure failed and collapsed.merle had been a track offical for many years and if i remeber correctly he was one of my competitors back in the day when i drove..the name really doesnt ring a bell but when i saw his picture...he looks familure....the track has closed for the remnder of the season....i drove here in 85-87,,one time while a spectator..a stock car had gone over the wall and hit a light post, taking down the post and 10 foot high wooden fence but for some reason the flagman didnt see this happen and didnt throw a yellow or red..the tow truck driver did see it and after about 6 laps turned on hit codes and drove down on to the edge of the front stretch and was hit head on by an out of control stock car...put the tow driver in the hospital for 8 weeks with massive injuries,,this track has had some wierd things happen
