Bob_Gen_Tazman - Dambusters project?

Has anyone heard or know the wherabouts of Bob_Gen _Tazman? (I think that was his correct forum name)

He and his team were making a Dambusters add-on which was nearly complete. So much work had gone into it that it would be a real shame if it never saw the light of day. There has been some recent work done in other areas that could provide the last pieces. :)

edit..just found this..

Am at work at the moment, will try it tonight. :)

Dambusters

It seems that this will not go away. We have the planes (new ones on my HD) but the game is limited in the use of the targeting lights. I have a model that shines two lights down, (hit shift + B) they do not reflect and are not speed sensitive as we had hoped to accomplish. :faint:

The texture is older (John and I decided not to revise due to the limitations of the game). If you want the model with its limitations it can be uploaded or given to someone to include in a mission. It is low priority with me and will take a back seat to more interesting and promising projects (IMHO).

The bomb is a torpedo which is fine so let me know and I'll put this on the list....:friday:

....is the speed sensitivity THAT important????? ( silly to ask NAcht i know)

beware the textures and mesh is squewy....looks fawlty in daylight....like long shadows...no probs at night though

Ted, any chance that could I have a copy of that a/c please? I want to make this work! :)

Btw, what is in the SoH download isn't what Tasman was doing, it is just bits of it, he had all the dams in place.

Wow, that's one of my old Squadron mates! Band of Brothers squadron. I haven't heard from them in a long time. Great group of men.

Well Guys, here Clive goes again stirring up trouble and creating more work. :weightlifter:

If Ted has a light working with Shift B, I can add the illumination to it by modifying my Leigh Light. WE will not be able to use a particle effect as it will not work pointing down or to the side only forward.

Re: Taz

Hi Pat,

I was with the BoB squad for several years, but unfortunately it was pretty much disbanded due to loss of interest in CFS3 and some disagreements among the members. The last time I was aware of any work being done on it was at least 2 years ago. I havent been in touch with Taz, but others who I am in touch with may still be. Ill float an email to them and if I can find out anything, Ill get back to you on it.

Its been a while!

Hi all! This is Tazman. Hi Clive! You will be glad to know that I have saved all of the stuff from the Dambusters project. I have not worked on it since my move out of CFS3. I had given all of what I had worked on to someone, I think it was thrassmussen? I am not sure what became of it? I will be glad to send you what I have. Not all of the dams are complete, as I was still tinkering with some problems, yet I think those can be overcome. I would very much like to see it finished! My 3d models are designed to work with FirePower's Lanc. At the time I left there was talk of freeware Lancs to come about, but I do not know if those are out or not. Send me a PM with your e-mail address if you are interested and I will send that out to ya. I will be more than glad to help walk you through what is what in the files.:jump:

BTW Hi former squadmates! I hope all is well with you guys! Thanks for letting me know about the interest in this project!

Hi Taz, great to see you and thanks for popping back to share the good news! :wavey:
(and thanks Joe for getting in touch)

CFS3 has grown more than any of us thought possible in the last couple of years, it's almost a new sim. We now have a freeware lanc (amongst many other types!) better scenery effects etc etc etc. In a few weeks the ETO Expansion 1.2 will be released, it will make an excellent base to revisit this work.

Cheers!

Clive

you have pm. :)

I'll sent it to you under conditions......

Mohnedam

Sorry guys the Mohnedam has been bombed. It will take some work to fix it. LOL
I like the Dambusters project fun to fly. The dam has got to be the biggest building in CFS3, hard on FPS.
It will be fun to go after in a B-17 in QC to see if you can blow it up above water level.

Good man! that's the spirit :)

I noticed the big fps hit too, probably in the 'terrain' part of the model. We'll sort that out for the ETO version hopefully.

btw have updated the old Derwent training missions for inclusion in 1.2, good fun just practicing those bomb runs too.

Pat, by the way I was flying Dambusters project In ETO1.02 The added sound effects to sound and the sound xml. where super. I have also added parts of FirePower addon to my ETO 1.02 so I had
no problems with that. The best thing other then the planes in FirePower is the bullet hit on the ground imo. nice effect. Matter of fact I'm putting the ETO folder that I have put together in a clickteam installer right now on our other PC and then going to put it on a flash drive as not to loss it. I have some jets that have all the goods like the afterburner and sonicboom very fun to fly. One of the jets will fly at 1360+ mph and one of them will hit over 3500 mph. Just need a P-shoot to land. Now where I can get one?

I hit Mohnedam with 6- 1000 # from a B-17 on the top and you can see what it did . We need a dam buster. lol
