Mod edit: WIP - scroll down for latest release link.

Hello everyone, I am happy to announce the release of my modified 135 package. This is an update to the original KC-135 pack from Delta Simulations. I have added my own improvements including new exterior models, animations, and flight models.
Variants:
  • KC-135R Stratotanker
  • RC-135V/W Rivet Joint
  • RC-135S Cobra Ball
  • RC-135U Combat Sent
  • WC-135R Constant Phoenix
  • E-6B Mercury
  • E-3 Sentry
The cockpit is modified from the C17 project. Additional elements and custom animations can be found on the Aircraft page of the EFB in the cockpit.
The flight model is custom and should provide generic performance without targeting any specific real world numbers. The engines and fuel system are not necessarily accurate either.
Key visual animations are controlled by lights as a hack to make them visible in multiplayer. You may notice that things will quickly flash if you hit a light command - this is normal. Some players with 'hard toggle' light switches on their joysticks may run into issues where the aircraft and controller are fighting to turn lights on/off at the same time and things flash. If this is the case I suggest you set your light controller to neutral so it is not constantly forcing a light state.

Just so everyone knows, there have been several updates since release to address weird glitches with the sound, throttles, and gauges. Make sure you grab v2.1 from the Github if you haven't already.

Thread stuck, and instead of editing in a d/l link, I just said scroll since this one might get more updates.

Very cool! Since this is Delta Simulations I assume these are real MSFS planes with actual C-135 cockpits? (There had been some FSX portovers on fs.to that used the 747 pit.)

No, they use a modified version of the C-17 cockpit

These are not really full "DeltaSim" releases; they started as a DS trial project and then got set aside and later picked up by a friend of mine who took it upon himself to add new animations, models, textures, and functionality to the package. These also used 747 cockpits for a time but the C-17 cockpit at least allowed it to be aligned properly with the actual position.

No one has been willing or able to accurately model an entirely new cockpit for them with all of the custom gauge programming it would require, so this is what we have for the foreseeable future

What a nice freeware package. I've been out in the NATO E-3 and will be exploring the rest tomorrow. The clearly-declared limitations notwithstanding, I think I'm going to have fun doing circuits at Edwards in these C-135 variants. Things like this are a joy in MSFS.

Can someone explain these 'hoops' around the rear fuselages. Are they intentional ? The only models that don't have them are the E-3 AWACS and the E-6B.

I definitely don't remember seeing those on the A model tankers when I was at Dyess, but it's possible they're some sort of structural mod.

Two minutes later... Looks like I might have guessed right. Found this in an image search - credit Wikimedia...

Thank you. I'm also now finding pictures of them. You are right; they are fuselage strengthening measures, according to the info available. I can only find pictures of KC-135s with them, so I'd be interested if they are fitted to any of the others.

Note, the E-3's and E-6 are Boeing 707's and not KC-135's. They are different kind of airframes. Both have the same Mother the "Boeing 367-80".

Ah, thank you Marcel. That explains the two exceptions.

Javis, thanks for that picture. I've flown in a KC-135, but never noticed stiffeners. Mind you, that was back in the mid-nineties, and it might be a more recent modification. I wonder what led to them being fitted - cracks discovered, maybe ?

Really nice set of packages, well done to those involved. Does anyone know if there's a paint kit?
Hello. Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately there is currently no paint kit, but it is something I will look into for the future :)
