I and my two compadres in our Albatros DIIIs were jumped by 14 SPAD VIIs from Escadrille 3. In the ensuing melee' I downed 2 SPADS but in the end the odds were too great. All three of us were shot down. I made a dead stick landing but that wasn't good enough. They kept blasting away at my plane until I jumped out and made it to a grove of trees. I guess I made 'em mad.
