Bottle neck?

Roger, I am using two GTX970 cards to run a 1080P projector and three LCD screens. I have never had what you describe. The only less than perfect phenomenon I get is an occasional pause while the system has to catch up, and this is rare.
I don't know how much difference there is between a 770 and a 970? I can imagine the two extra GB of RAM help. However, I don't know if the issue is card related. Still, if you are itching for a new video card....here is your excuse and chance.

Show stopper ? I don't think so.
I've been using P3D with my old GTX480 for years, and a 770 is much more powerfull than a 480.
Eventually, the small amount of memory could prevent you from using high resolution repaints (4096) or stuff like that. But again, my 480 had only 1,5 Gb of RAM and was working fine...

Just to bring a more precise answer: yes, your video card might be a little bottleneck, although such a name might be a bit exagerated.
However, it's really not a showstopper at all.
My brother runs P3D 2.5 on a GT 650. His FPS are not that great, but after he limited a few graphic settings, he could get a smooth-enough experience to enjoy his flights in liners.
Now, one thing we should check is: are your current settings (both for the game and the video card) adapted to your hardware ?
And also, what kind of performance do you currently get ?

You might find your chip is the 'bottleneck'.
I'm running a pair of GTX 690's (Elderly and hot!) as my current new build is stalled awaiting a couple of key components, but they handle P3D3 well.
In clear weather I have managed to stagger into triple FPS digits, but inevitably the numbers drop into the mid 40's under normal conditions.
You might think about holding off on replacing your current GPU and put the $$$$ toward a beefier unit.

It should be OK in most instances Roger but (there's always one!) it is a bit hamstrung as it's a Quad Core.
And the socket 1151 series are apparently on the way out, or so I'm told.
If you compare it to the Intel Core i7 'Extreme Edition 6950X' LGA2011-3 (for example) the first thing that stands out is the 10 Core architecture.
The second is the eye watering price!
I'm not a fan of AMD so I can't comment, and I'm not telling what I'm basing my 'new build' around as some components are still 'in transit' ........ but I may need to sell a kidney!

Roger, I think you may have jinks me. Yesterday, I decided to fly out of Boston's Logan to do some sight seeing. I have Aerosoft's Boston X installed.
Well, I had vertical spikes where building should be and a molasses frame rage of around 4 fps. Now, bear in mind I am running a i7 5930 @ 4.0 GHz and using two GTX 970 GPS's. I am not sure why I suddenly got stuck in mud.

I had that same problem after installing the Milvis-REX weather advantage gauge. I kept getting a pop-up warning that the gauge dll was incompatible with P3Dv3, but it wouldn't upgrade. Turned out I had to go to the website and manually download the upgrade. No problems since.
