In case you did not see it, my regional airport KLOU buildings is at flightdim.to

I have some attachment to Bowman field as I lived about one mile from it during WWII.
It was a traiing ground for C47 planes, gliders and parachuters. Many a time we could see
the planes with gliders taking to the skies. During some weekends my older brother and I
would try running through the obstacle courses, but chickened out at the parachute jump.
There are links in the download about Bowman's intresting WWII history.

Later in the 60's we moved across the street from Bowman and experienced the parade
of private flights into and out of the field at Kentucky Derby time.

This is my only novice MSFS scenery which had a few false starts. SOH members have helped
overcome the problems for which I am thankful. There are two features I have wanted to include
but have yet to learn how. One is the removal of misplaced default fuel stations and the other
is the shifting in the wind of the large unique windvane.

Very neat! Bowman was the last stop with the B-17 I worked before we shut down from COVID and the plane went back to Madras. I'll have to post some photos later!

Downloaded! By the way, next time you're in the editor there, put a comma in the GPS numbers.

Also, the Google satellite view shows what looks like a VOR on the field, but there's nothing listed in any charts. Since the airport has a tower listed, is it maybe a radar installation?

Sorry it took me forever to upload these JimJones! This was shortly before COVID shut everything down. I believe it was my last trip out with the airplane. I always tell folks a funny story about coming into land there on one mission... I'll just say, that runway looks reaaaaaaallllly short and those trees look reaaaaaally tall coming into land :adoration:

Thanks for the interesting photos.

It appears they were taken during an airshow, judging by the aircraft on the field and the rows of cars parked on the south side of the field.

The trees around the field have had a long time to grow tall since Bowman was constructed and have been topped off.
Your concerns about the landings there are appreciated.

I visited one crash, minutes afterwards, where a WWII plane, on an approach to runway 06 fell very short near homes. As a youngster I was very
much disturbed by the destruction and the efforts of authorities to cordon off the scene.
