The Breda 65 pioneered and developed the doctrine which would soon be known as 'blitzkrieg'. The Breda 65 flew combat missions over Spain with the 'Aviazione Legionaria' from August 1937. The faster Ba.65 A.80 (Series II), with new engine, more powerful supercharger, a constant speed airscrew and a slatted wing made its combat debut in Spain during October 1938.
