Bridges

I had forgotten how dismal the bridges are in this sim, I seem to remember someone working on a Remaganesque bridge years ago. Are there any better bridges available anywhere?

That would have been me, i was almost finished on the Arnhem (John Frost) bridge, had a major HDD failer couple weeks back and lost everything from when i started modelling back in 2007. i was lucky in that i had left my mossie model at a friends the week previous to the crash so that the project could carry on.

I am hopeing its the pcb and when i get my money this coming week i am ordering a new one so i may still be able to save everything ...... fingers crossed and it this is so i will finish the bridge and give it to the ETO guys to add to there releases

I was also trying to figure out a way of getting the vehicles to drive over the bridge but failed so they will only be eye candy but still better than the stock stuff.

There's a bridge pack here for use in missions based on the ACC Antheor Viaduct:

Dave, there could be a work around for this...how about making a couple of vehicles that have their origin point below them at the same height as the bridge. ie they would drive around at say 30 meters above the ground. It would need a path laid out in the facility file so that they would back and forth across it. Having said that I'm not sure what would happen with the damageboxes!

There may be another way to do this, I have made a couple of missions with vehicles driving across bridges, and had some very Good results.. I'll try a experiment on the Viaduct, and let you know if I can do this here also..
One of those side stepping things I like to try..Like the Catapult launches..

I never thought that any of this might be of use.. But I shall give it a go and let you Know how it works, or Not on the Viaduct..

Just an observation, but what I like is the level of detail this sim has acquired thanks to the efforts of all the masters of creating aircraft, vehicles, and the whole scenario of the air battles of the war. It's about immersion and not so tangentially, an appreciation of all who flew and what they had to go through to achieve what they did.

It's what makes this not so much a game as a sim.

now if we could only reverse engineer the cfs3 engine and improve on it!...sigh.
