Buccaneer

Hi, been away from simming for almost a couple of years, but now back for brief dabbles. I'm trying to find a decent Bucc. Tried the UKMIL one but not overly impressed by it (VC lets it down). The only other I'm aware of is the Virtavia one but not downloaded yet. Are there others (free or pay), any screenshots?
I'm determined to fly this time rather than spend hours downloading and testing different things! Thanks for your help.

The best one I've found is the DSB UK fighters variant , made for the RAF Virtual guys.
While not freely available for download, it is permitted to be shared. Does not have a VC, but does have correct
animations of tailplane flaps ( Bucc does not have elevators on tailplane, I should know I used to fix Buccs in RAF)
and aileron droop.

It's modelled on an S2A/ S2C with a slick bomb door, rather than the guppy belly , it wasn't so unusual to find
one with a no tank door installed on occasions, the tanks would leak, and if there was no spare tank door available, a no tank door would be installed.

With no Vc , you would need to replace 2d panel it comes with , which is designed for on line flying with
the photo realistic panel you can find at flightsim.com, and whatever sound set floats your boat.

Screenie is off my backup laptop hence poor quality; while our main home rig is in being fixed.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll look maybe at the DSB one when I've got a bit of time to fiddle with the panel.

All the best in getting your rig back up and running, Pete - I know how frustrating this can be, matey :encouragement:

P.S.; still think your bananas for flying one of those wotsits! :wiggle:

You should try it, once you get used to the ergonomic slum that is the panel, exactly as the real one was , (that was the kindest term I think I ever heard used to describe how various gauges were positioned in the cockpit) whizzing along at 250 feet and 500 knots is a hoot.

I can send you copy if you like.

Ps. Shop says motherboard is broke, so it looks likely I'll be doing battle with fresh installation
again when I get it back.

Oh alright - you have me cornered; i'll try one of your exotic fruits when yer up and running :)))

Loved the bit about 'ergonomic slum' LOL.
We Brits were probably world leaders in cockpit layout nightmares - many of our pilots-of-old, confessed to 'liking' it like that.
"Keeps you on your toes" said one well known Sea Fury display pilot.

I reckon it's all sour grapes - step into a mustang or Grumman Anycat; it's all there at hand for the pilot.

Rumour has it that the Air Ministry is to blame for a lot of it - always had it in for pilots, that's why they were in such a rush to do away with'em all together in the 60's.
Some bright spark 'politician' produced a white paper and cancelled the TSR2 thinking he'd give pilots the final boot and replace them with Bloodhound missiles :jawdrop:

Hope you're up and running soon!!! :wavey:

Seems there's a bit more to the demise of the TSR2 but that's basically it in a nutshell..."politics". Towards the end of WWII the Brits lost out on having another amazing aircraft that literally flew circles around anything the RAF had at the time.... the Martin Baker MB-5. The dawn of the "jet age" was basically the reason they gave for not going through with production but there were other political reasons... a topic for another time, perhaps.
