Yea the War in the China/Burma area is getting a bit warmer.
Have the facilities finshed, and testing missions here..
Buffalo, P-40b missions and Ki 43, Ki 27, Chinese I-16..
Bomber fighter and Hobbit madness for thr Rising sun Team..
And there is Much rejoicing!!

I was sent these files for the Greenish Hue, it fades to Blue when you are out to sea..
Around the rivers inland it has the green Hue, and on to sea the water looks Blue..
Like this very much..
The water change, friends are working on for all..
I don't have the skill to do this myself..
:applause: :applause: :applause:

Was that the one I was working on or a different one? I didn't know anyone else was working on it, but I don't remember mine doing that. If it's mine you've found something new with it, if it's someone else's it might be nice to swap some ideas as I've found a few tricks as well that they might find helpful.

Yes my friend I think this one was from you..
All I did was mix the Water texture .dds files you sent with a set of stock Rising Sun water textures, in my Effects/ fxtextures folder
Replaced the textures one at a time until I stumbled across this look..

Have no idea how I managed this..
And not sure what I changed to get it to do this..
Yea, some times even a blind pig finds a nut in the woods..

Wow, you don't muck around, Owen! Clever stuff. Good shots. There were some RAAF Buffaloes down in PNG, too; not too healthy against Zeros....

Ps: To Owen:

When fiddling (still without knowing what I was doing), in a Firepower version, to get big (slightly overdone, for fun) red tracers; I used some old Ghost Pony (GP)files and 2 or 3 main effects xml files at the same time. Although, I annotated the two I though weren't being read as 'Old', 'XETO' or siimilar, and some how I think CFS3 was still reading bits out of the lot (or some how doing an unknown mathematical/integration function......that's how it seemed to me). No idea how, but I've ended up with nice fat red tracers, probably bigger than using the separate GP and other tracer files I mixed, by themselves. I was really just mucking around to see what happened....

Anyway, now I've a got a setup I like just for fun (have authentic stuff elsewhere), too scared to fiddle with it any further: so just left it alone.
And it works fine from 'adding stuff', and I've not much idea why (a bit of experimentation!).

Info./hope it helps.

I agree with you Ian, just mucking about does give some surprising results..

And sometimes a little Buffalo does a Great job indeed..:applause:
My Poor P-40 had a bad day..:redf:
More from China/Burma AVG

I am stunned how well the AVG and RAF in the Buffalo's did in Dec. 41 to Jan. 42 In the CBI
Some of the missions I built mirror these missions,
"From Wikipedia"

On 23 December, Mitsubishi Ki-21 "Sally" heavy bombers of the 60th, 62nd and 98th Sentais, along with single-engined Mitsubishi Ki-30 "Ann" attack bombers of the 31st Sentai, sortied against Rangoon. They were escorted by Nakajima Ki-27 "Nate" fighters of 77th Sentai. The Imperial Japanese Army Air Force (JAAF) formation was intercepted by the AVG and RAF Brewster Buffalos of 67 Squadron. Eight Ki-21s were shot down for the loss of three AVG P-40s. The 60th Sentai was particularly hard hit – it lost five out of the 15 bombers it had dispatched. Nevertheless, Rangoon and Mingaladon airfield were successfully bombed, with the city suffering more than 1,000 dead. Two Buffalos and two P-40s were destroyed on the ground, and one P-40 crashed when it attempted to land on a bomb-damaged runway. On 25 December, the JAAF returned, reinforced by Ki-21s of 12th Sentai and Nakajima Ki-43 Hayabusa (Oscars) of the 64th Sentai (Colonel Tateo Katō's Flying Squadron). A total of 63 bombers escorted by 25 fighters were committed. These were intercepted by 12 P-40s of the AVG's 3rd Squadron and 15 Buffalos of 67 Squadron. Ten Japanese aircraft were lost in the resulting battle: two Ki-43s, four Ki-27s, and four Ki-21s. The Allies lost five Buffalos and three P-40s. Mingaladon airfield was once again damaged, and eight Buffalos were destroyed on the ground.
On 12 January, the Japanese launched their Burma Campaign. Significantly outnumbered, the AVG was gradually reduced through attrition, but often exacted a disproportionate toll of their attackers. On 24 January, six Ki-21s of the 14th Sentai escorted by Ki-27s attacked Mingaladon. All the Ki-21s were shot down by the AVG and RAF defenders. On 28 January, a fighter sweep of 37 Ki-27s was engaged by 16 AVG P-40s and two RAF fighters. Three "Nates" were shot down for the loss of two P-40s. The next day, another sweep of 20 Ki-27s of the 70th Sentai was met by 10 Allied fighters (eight P-40s and two Hawker Hurricanes). Four were shot down for the loss of no Allied aircraft.

I have built several missions along these lines given the limits of the CFS3 Engine..
Reading up from several sources, and have many Videos about the AVG with interviews from the Men and Nurses too..

Need to talk to our History experts in the RS team and here.. about all of this I guess..
Any recommendations wold be most welcomed..

Thanks LZ, I will use the KI 43Mk1 in missions for my personel set....

I am using all Rising Sun stock aircraft..
Only items I have added are facilities right now, which can be changed when the Scenery is completed in the CBI
This set will be uploaded to the RS team at the FPT for future updates in the RS project..
Making a Historial set for the most part..
Yea ain't that a shocker.. :icon_lol:

I did an AVG Campaign for CFS2 of 43 historical missions a few years ago. It started with the AVG's first combat on December 21,1942 at Kunming and ended when the AVG retreated to Paoshan China May 4,1942.

I also did missions of the British as they fought hand and hand with the AVG. They had twice or more the losses then the AVG because of their tactics. The British also flew the Hurricane in defense of Rangoon. The Benheim was used to attack Japanese airfields as was the Buffalo with AVG escort.

AVG planes
P40b
P40c
P40e These arrived in late March early April 1942.

On July 4,1942 the AVG became the CATF ( Chinese Air Task Force ). Some of the pilots stayed for awhile to help the new USAAF pilots that took over. About 6 pilots of the AVG did join the CATF Tex Hill being one of them. Robert L Scott ( God is my co pilot ) did fly some missions with the AVG but was not a member of the group but was one of the leaders of the CATF.

I did a 28 mission camapaign for the CATF. They were in existance for 8 months and also had a very impressive record.

CATF Planes
P40b
P40c
P40e
They also had 8xB25 bombers.

The information is out there from both sides, you just have to look for it.

Well Done indeed Talon..

I have several videos on the AVG interviews and the like..
And I am pleased there is so much on the net about this period in the war..
Doing a bit of research into the RAF/Commomwealth fighting too, it is all very interesting ..

:wavey::applause:Hi Owen I'll keep an eye out for it, soon I hope:salute:.

Hi Talon, nice to see you around! Any updates regarding your work on Truk and Rabaul missions? Looking forward to fly the Helldiver in historical missions.

LZ, None of my CFS3 installs work so I can't finish the missions.
I tried a fresh install of CFS3 and it won't work. I noticed this about 3 weeks ago.

I planned on getting a new computer because mine is old. I should have it sometime next month. All CFS3 installs are backed up so I didn't lose anything.

talon , the one with the floating home ,,,yachyt ....may i ask how the radiers have been any ... keep hearing about this from others in the waters tks
