C195 Shakey Jake RPM Gauge

Been flying around in and messing around with the Cessna 195...I think it is by Joe Binka...the Shakey Jake package. Anyhoo...working on the repaint template (which I started way back in the early part of this year) and flying the plane around....I noticed that the RPMs stay right at around 2200 to 2300 rpm, from about 10% throttle all the way up to full throttle. They RPMs don't drop until I have pulled throttle way back to 10 percent or so.

Is this a guage problem, a config problem or no problem at all?

Oh, I think I finally found the Sweet Spot for bare aluminum! The aluminum on the C195 has the look I have been chasing since I began skinning for FS2004.

May well be wrong, but I think the C-195 had a constant speed prop, which would maintain rpms automatically, by changing pitch with manifold pressure/throttle position/airspeed.

Sorry for the Bump. Found this while googling...

A few of us have been working on "Shakey Jake" for FSX, panels and repaints.

Did you ever complete the repaint template? It would be quite useful.
Wanna share the bare aluminum texture trick?

Thanks...Don

I did complete the paint kit for the external bits of the C-195. Haven't done the interior stuff...but really need to...those seats are UGLY!

During my chase for the best looking polished aluminum look, I found that setting the specular shine on the model to 80,80,80 using Martin Wright's MDLmat is the first step. For the skins, I use RGB code 167,167,167 for the base metal and RGB code 220,220,220 for the polished aluminum alpha. Of all the variations I have tried, this combo produces the most convincing polished aluminum look to my eyes.

Keep in mind that this combo may not be to your liking....due to personal tastes and differences in monitors, video cards, sim settings, degree of blindness and such.

I was going to say that differences in video cards will have a lot to do with how bare metal appears in FS. A lot of older paints that I did that looked good with an old Geforce 440 card, washed out to almost blinding white with my current card.
