Campaign help

Hi everyone. My copy of OFF 2 turned a while ago and I've installed it and am VERY impressed. Great gameplay and damn good fun.

However, I can't make sense of the campaign. I'm for ever stuck in the 1st of May, 1918 - my very own Groundhog Day. I've made a pilot, then select him and go into campaign, select a mission, go to field, go through another briefing type thing, then fly. Even if I make it back to my field and land ok, I can't find anywhere to save the mission or campaign. If I go back to the Officer's Mess, I'm back at 0830 on 01May18?!?! Even when I return to the airfield and click on the menu at the top right corner, the "save campaign" selection/button is not "active" and I can't click on it.

Any ideas? Am I just thick?

Sometimes you can fly two or three missions before the day advances. Look in "Workshops" on the OFF main page and look in the "Campaign" column, Campaign Advance" and make sure "auto" is checked.

Thanks, I'll check that. However, when I finish a mission, my pilot dossier isn't updated at all and it's always 0830...

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with your problem or not, but look in Workshops at the light green "Weather" box. You'll see a box named "General".
You have a choice of "Day lock on" or off. I've got mine set to off. Like I said, I don't know if this has any effect or not, just an idea.

Ok, I'll try that but from memory, I think it's already set to off...

Howdy . . on your end, please verify the obvious use of english, but more often overlooked is the region, it MUST be USA, UK, or South Africa

I've got some others, but they're much more drastic :d

Sorry gimpyguy, you've completely lost me there :isadizzy:
Are you talking about the region in the game or ...?

He's talking about the windows setup for language and region, I'm a french canadian and here we write date in day/month/year. So I need to change my windows settings or the game will not work properly.

Those settings are found in the control panel under the languages and regions settings. As Gimpy said, you need to use english as the language and UK, USA or South Africa for the region. You can add as many languages you want and switch from one to the other by pressing alt+shift so you can answer to your email in your own language and shift to english to play OFF.

Maybe one day english peoples will switch to the metric system but I don't expect to see it during my life.:banghead:

Don't know if you're running Vista or XP. But in XP you bring up Control Panel/ Double click Language and Regional Options. See what you've got. I'd be willing to bet, you've English Austrailia:ernae:

Ok, gotcha. But no, I already have USA English selected. Any other ideas?

I tried starting a new pilot, flying a different aircraft. Went to briefing, seleced "go to field" then when that page loads, there's an SE5 there and the VC icon on the left (Missions). I click on the VC and it opens the little Mission page. In the Pilot's Name box is Rys-Davids (or something similar) which is not my pilot. It was also the name there with the first pilot I created. When I click on the name to change it, nothing happens. I can change armament etc but not that name. If I click on "Hangar" on the top right of the screen, "save mission" is greyed out so I can't click on it. If I fly the mission, no matter what the result (even if I get the debrief "ribbon" across the bottom of the screen) I still can't select "save mission".

Great game, but it's getting frustrating because I can't go anywhere with it - no matter how many missions I fly, no matter what the outcome, my pilot dossier still says zero to everything

At least you made it back from the front:d.
I flew my first campaign last night after getting all cocky flying quick flights for a couple of weeks. and got absolutly gorrilla raped by the Bosch as I hit the front lines:isadizzy:.

I hope you get your date thing worked out.

About enlist new pilots

When you create a new pilot dossier, you can't use any symbols in his name

For example :

First name: John "The Killer"
Last name: Smith

I don't know if this can help you but it's a rule when you enlist a new pilot...

OK. . Now it gets radical, can't see pussyfooting around.
You've got it on disc . . . so dump it

Defragment
Get off line, drop your screens
REinstall

No way to uninstall OFF save Deleting 2 Huge Folders in MS Games

Read this for any questions you have;

Good Luck :ernae:
You can try the no punctuation in the Pilots Names OR you can try manual install in Workshop in which case you WILL lose your pilots.

OR get drastic

No, not putting anything in for the name other than a simple name.

It's more than just a date thing, I can supposedly fly a campaign but can't save it and whatever I've just flown, isn't recognised so I'm always stuck at day one, zero flying hours etc...

Yeah, it's looking that way. I was hoping not to have to do anything like that and it would be a straight forward fix. I've read through the FAQ and couldn't see anything like my glitch.

Oh well... *sigh*

See that's the rub, you never save anything, it happens automaticly when it works properly

Desert Guy- Did you try just deleting the pilot and creating a new one? Or try going to workshop and clicking manual in the Campaign advance and moving the date manually?

Royce

In the Pilot's Name box is Rys-Davids (or something similar) which is not my pilot.

Well you definately have something going screwy on you there. Your pilot's campaign isn't going to get recorded if CSF3 is using the wrong pilot, so try to figure that out first. I have not seen this before so am not sure what the cause might be.

Perhaps post a very detailed step-by-step of how you are creating a pilot and getting to the hanger page; maybe someone can spot where things are going wrong.

FYI, CSF3 has little to do with your campaign. Your pilot and his campaign are created, managed, and saved by the OFF manager. CSF3 is only used to fly the individual flights. Do not try creating or saving pilots from withinCSF3...that is why that stuff is greyed-out.
