Campaign Revisions

Shadow Wolf 07

SOH-CM-2025
I am currently updating my "USS Saratoga CV-3 Campaign." I am making some adjustments to speeds at waypoints, a few targets and adding some missions. The missions I am adding are additional random optional missions, where the player is flying as a wingman, not as the flight leader. These are only the ones where the player is flying strike missions, not CAPs or fighter sweeps. As in the original campaign, the player will fly 19 missions. Instead of 33 options for these 19 there are now 52 possible options. Of course they can be also loaded into your Missions folder and flown as individual missions.

I am currently in the process of testing the campaign to see how it works and how the new missions load and work in it, and I'll upload it in the place of the origina campaign. The downloads needed are all the same so all you'll have to do if you have the campaign aready is to load the new missions and .cmg file into your Campaigns folder. I will keep you all posted as to how it's going and if this works well, then I'll do the same for my USS Essex and Desperate Battles campaigns too.

Cheers:

Got to admire your work ethic SW, nice to see a piece of class like this being revised & improved on - love the idea of adding more options, helps improve replayability:salute:

That´s great news, I really enjoy your campaigns! :applause:

May I make one suggestion? It would be great if you could rename the missions so that they appear in chronological order in the Single Missions menu.

Thanks for all your work!

This revision will be better. am adding more of the "tricks" that I've gotten used to with my later campaigns like more alternate waypoints for attacking formations and goals that appear mid-mission.

Your suggestion is noted: perhaps I could rename them something like Sararoga-A-Wake-1, Sararoga-B-GuadalcanalStrike-1, Saratoga-C-Guadalcanal-CAP-1 etc. Lemme think it over... It shouldn't be too hard to do. :salute:

Glitches noted

I have flown 2 missions as a wingman and each time noted the following glitches:
1. The other flight members do not retain the names listed in the menu, but rather have the generic flight names eg; Dog-1, Dog-2 etc.
2. When targets are destroyed by the flight members, the named wingmen do not get any credit for a kill/kills since in the mission they have no "names."
3. If you, the player do not keep up with your wingmen after the attack, the warp at the return waypoint will not engage and you will have to fly back to the carrier manually. Flying at 4X normal speed will get you there in 15 minutes or less.

These I consider to be minor problems and since you fly these missions so rarely, I'm going to leave them in.

Moving right along with testing...

Shadow Wolf 07,

I'm experiencing some of these same issues...keep me posted if you need me to replace anything.

As I said to Rami last night on Skype, maybe I'll go back in and write them up in the "briefing"as if the player is attached to another flight for those non-flight leader missions... I still wish the return warp would work right dependably. :running:

Hi Shadow Wolf 07,

What if you used entering or leaving an "Area" as the warp trigger instead of a waypoint?

Almost done...

...finishing up my revisions and testing. I should be uploading by the middle of next week.

After Saratoga I may go in and revise the USS Essex campaign the same way... it's a much bigger campaign with 107 possible missions as it stands now.

I just uploaded the revised version of the USS Saratoga CV3 Campaign - The player will now fly 19 out of 52 possible mission options.

Next, I go to work on the USS Essex campaign - a much larger set of missions with 50 missions out of a possible 107 options (currently). Whew!

With so many variables one could fly it time after time and always have different enddings! Congratulations for your energy. And thanks a lot for sharing!

Shadow Wolf 07,

I hate to tell you this, but you're upload must not of took. Do you want to try it again?

Rami:

I just downloaded it and it contains the most current mission files (dated 02 DEC 11). It seems to be okay. When unzipped, the folder inside the zip is titled: USS Saratoga CV3 Revised.

I am currently working on the USS Essex CV-9 Campaign revision. I am almost halfway finished with the missions themselves and plan to slow down a bit with the holidays coming. I am refining the missions: adjusting waypoints' speeds, altitudes and actions, targets, player goals etc. as well as adding quite a few new missions where the player flys as a wingman. Rebuilding the .cmg (campaign file) is going to be a challenge. I have to redo the downloads list as Maskrider's/Lindsay's stuff is no longer here at the Outhouse. This one will keep me busy for a while... :running:
