'Canon EOS 60D, Nikon D7000, Pentax K-5 Image Comparisons'

How on Earth can they make comparisons like that? The quality is going to change from lens to lens, and even lens copy to lens copy.

Maybe they're using an old manual lens with adapters for each camera? Even then there's going to be camera copy variation that is likely greater than the differences you see there.

Hmm... :monkies:

Hey All,

I got no dog in this fight but at least do more than one comparison. DPReview camera comparisons have lots of problems - their lens assessment system is really interesting. I personally like to use a combination of DXOMark and Imaging Resource for cameras an in addition look at PDReview lens tests. Here is DXOMark.

Anyway I bring this up because I stopped at my local London Drug (carries lots of cameras often for a good price) to see if the Sony A55V and/or Panasonic GH2 were in yet. They weren't - dang - but they did have both D7000 and K5s in stock and sitting on the shelf (forgot to even see if there was a Canon 60D there) so I had to handle them! :jump: Suffice to say if I were in the market for one of these cameras and not invested in either lens system I think I'd be buying the K5 despite the $400 or so difference in price. The focus on the K5 was incredibly fast and the camera was slightly smaller and slightly lighter. What I did not like was the fully exposed no tilt or swivel LCDs on both cameras that your nose messed up every time you looked through the viewfinder. Why couldn't Nikon have kept that feature like it is on the D5000 and Pentax have added it? While the Pentax right now is much more expensive I suspect the price of the K5 will come down some as I think it is probably mean't to be a competitor to the D7000 level camera. I have no doubt both are fine cameras but I'd have gone for the bit smaller Pentax.
