Can't install FSX with Windows 7

Installed FSX over the years probably 100 times. Now I have a problem and searched everytwhere and this is my last resort.
The Disk 1 installs clean but half way thru Disk 2 I get this window:

I cleaned my registry for left over FSX and then stopped and disabled all MS services with msconfig and still get the error message.
Anybody have a fix?

Don't know for certain, but I'd uninstall, clean the registry, then search for any remaining bits of FSX and delete them. Reboot and install to a directory other than C:/Program Files. Make up a directory, something like C:/games or C:/flight sims anything but C:/Program Files.

Thanks,Stansdds
That error message is for all installs, not just for FSX and it's a popular question all over the net.
After searching 'til I was exhausted and tried a ton of suggestions, I finally discovered Microsoft Installer Clean-up Utility
which is (probably) the only thing that will find the left over fragment(s) of a previous install.
It works. But, after a good install, I couldn't get FSX to recognize my keyboard until I set FSX to run in XPSP3 compat mode
with admin privileges. :isadizzy:
