Can't open the layer gsl/cfs2.gsl for reading.

just tried to load up some basic add ons and am getting this error.

I tried deleting all the gobs added, which arent that many yet just some of Sander's cities and the Truk Enhanced gobs for the islands and that is about it,

but the sim says it cant read the cfs2.gsl which is not good i am suspecting. Any suggestions? i am gonna call it a night as i cant figure this out without some advice.

OK it is working now, i had some mistakes in file placement. It works fine now. Just have to work on adding some more objects as I am getting errors running the BOB airfields :) thanks to those who helped me with advice.

CrisGer, what is it exactly that you are trying to do? Why do you want to get into you GSL? Are you trying to add and remove scenery objects?

GSL has nothing, nada, zero to do with coastlines, water, etc. It only has to do with scenery objects- period.

Cody asked you if you were using Martin Wright's GSLEdit.exe tool. You answered that you are using GSLMan.exe. They are not the same thing. You can only add and remove entire custom gsls using GSLMan.exe. You can not use it to "get into" your GSL to add, remove or rearrange individual scenery objects.

So, I guess my biggest question is: What is it you are trying to do?

When you open GSLMAN.exe does the window look like this? Or doesn't it open at all?

I am embarassed to say that i had put my GSL folder INSIDE the SceneDB folder so the engine could not find it. That was the simple and sad truth.

I am learning a lot in the process..but it has been a while since i installed and had to learn over again the things to do. Last night when i was moving things around i moved the GSL folder by mistake and hence my problems.

sorry about that alarm and thanks so much for your kind reply. I do have the edit tool now and can solve things that happen in the future but for now things are working fine. :)

Dumb mistake. My bad.

Don't be embarrassed. It can be a very steep learning curve.

Happy to hear that you doped it out. Having your GSL folder tucked away inside the SCENEDB folder would definitely cause CFS2 to exhibit some odd behavior!

LOL!

Cheers,
Chris
