As I said in a previous post, my ETO Epansion folder does not show up in the App data folder. MAW/PTO are there, on my desktop I have a previous install of a very early version of the ETO that I suspect is causing my problems. My new ETO install and the old one (named CFS3 Europe) co-existed till yesterday. When I launch ETO, I get a ctd and I can't get to my Uisel.xml file to delete it. To further complicate matters, the CFS3 Europe folder on my desktop has no uninstall file in it and I can't delete it. Any ideas how to delete it so I can try installing ETO over?

If there's no ETO folder in the Appdata, then delete the ETO folder from My Documents (there's one there, right?) and delete the ETO game folder from Program Files\Microsoft Games.

That's it, reinstall at will!

No, there is no ETO folder in my documents, just in program files. I still want to get rid of that old install on the desktop also

Just delete the desktop folder?

The ETO removal procedure is
  1. Delete the ETO folder in Appdata
  2. Delete the ETO folder in My Documents
  3. Delete the ETO game folder
and of course delete associated desktop icons. No uninstall necessary.

I appreciate the help Hairy, but the only ETO folder I have is the main folder in Program files, something must have gotten botched in the install. All I can delete is the main folder and try re-installing. I have show all folders checked, so nothing is hidden. Even using the MS search feature reveals no app data or my documents folders related to ETO.

Before you delete the lot, have you actually RUN the new install? If you haven't, the app data and my docs files will not have been created (You DO have whatnot files, system thingys and so on visible, don't you?)
If having run the sim and found that no files have been created, look in CFS3ETO root for an exe named MultiCFS3.exe - click on it and see what it is doing. If it gives a path as it should, you'll see CFS3 ETO Expansion_____v1.2 or some such in the box. Click on OK, close, and try firing up ETO again.
If you still have no luck, and no folders have been produced, try changing the name in the box - what you put there has absolutely no incidence on anything, so call it "Tom & Jerry Fight the Hun" if you like - and try again. If all else fails, then it's back to square one. But it shouldn't.

Yes , I have run it in several era's all weekend, then the ctd's started and now I can't delete my Uisel.xml file because I can't locate it anywhere. When I click my documents, all the other installs are there............

The uisel isn't in the document folder, but in the appdata-folder.

CFS3 creates folders in the document folder as well as in the appdata folder.

Are you running on XP, Vista or Win7?

If I get you right, you have two seperate installs of ETO? Did you run the multicfs3-tool before launching the new install?

In the multicfs3 you can specify another Appdata path for this install. Otherwise the two installs use the same appdata directory and therefore uisel.xml too.

If you fly an airplane in one install that doesn't exist in the other, the second one would crash.

hope this helps.....
