Captain Sim releases C-130E on Marketplace.

SOH-CM-2025
I see in the MSFS Marketplace today that Captain Sim has released a C-130E Hercules. I already purchased their C-130H a little while ago and on reading about the differences between the E and H variants, Wikipedia described the C-130H as:

C-130H
Identical to the C-130E but with more powerful Allison T56-A-15 turboprop engines. Introduced in Jun. 1974 with 308 ordered.

So are there really enough differences between the C-130E and C-130H to warrant purchasing both versions?

I realize there are going to be superfans of the C-130 who are going to want every possible version in their hanger so there are going to be different answers to this question, but being just a normal fan of the aircraft I not sure how much added value its going to provide.

The main differences between the 'E' and 'H' models were the upgrade from the -7 to the -15 engines, shift over from the GTC to an APU, and swapping the anemic flight deck AC pack, that was ~50% smaller than the cargo compartment AC pack on the 'E' model to the same one used in the cargo compartment - which of course provided for much better flight deck cooling. As time went on, there were slight advancements to the cockpit for the 'H2', and later on an early glass cockpit for the 'H3' variant. As it is right now, if you have the 'H' model I don't know that buying the 'E' model would be worth the money - especially for a CS product. Unless you're a HUGE Herc fan, I'd save my money for the pending 'J' model by Blackbird Simulations (although it might only be released for MSFS2024).
I flew the 'E' at Pope AFB and LRAFB in the active duty (many years ago), with ~3,500 hours in it. FYI, I decided to pass on the CS 'H' model after it was released based on feedback I've seen about it, and have no desire to buy their 'E' model.

Think it's the same model, as the recent release C-130 was more a "E" with the very classic VC then a "H".

I got my money back via Paypal because they advertised to be a "H" model while it was not.

Sorry to bump up this topic, but after seeing the screenshots of the future BlackBird C-130 J with glass gauges, I'm now considering getting the C-130 from Captain Sim instead. I understand there are several versions, including a J which has an incorrect gauge cockpit, right ? It seems the J also has some specific features. Are these also available on other variants as well ?

Also, I was mostly considering getting the H version with more powerful engines, but the comment just above indicates there's something wrong with it. Any additional details? I'm seeing the Herc in sales in the marketplace so I'm kind of tempted....

I only own the "H" (that isn't really an H); but despite a few flaws (like the lack of a correct designation), I like it. The "steam" VC is exactly what I'm looking for in a Herc anyway (the modern glass cockpits are great, but somehow out of place in this workhorse, imo). I can get past the inaccuracies and enjoy the startup and flight. The AP is just tricky enough to be interesting, and flying it IFR in adverse weather is exciting.
Plus, it really does look pretty nice and has nice "extra" features (like lots of opening panels, doors, and hatches).

Perfect? By no means.
Great? Partly
Pretty Darn Good? Absolutely.

I have all three versions from CS because I am a Herc nut haha. The E and H are basically the same model with a few differences on the exterior. The J model was their latest release and has the Angel Flare effect, Airdrop animation and new soundset from Echo 19. The other versions haven't been updated yet as CS was holding off to see what needed to be done to move the aircraft to MSFS24.

In my own opinion the cockpit modeling and textures are one of the best Ive seen in the sim. Pretty impressive but its also the same VC for all three versions even the J model. The systems on the other hand are a bit lacking but I still enjoy it.
