Carenado B1900D Released!

The site keeps timing out for me...perhaps they're being overwhelmed with orders?

Maybe, Roger. A couple quick observations (none FMS related, as I didn't get that far)
1)the realityXP configurator boogers the RXP install and doesn't put it in the right place. You have to go into the simobjects/airplanes folder and after running the script you will see another 1900D folder containing the updated interior model and panel c0nfig. I just over-wrote the ones in the main 1900D folder and voila! RXP 530 installed.
2) VC lighting works via switches on the overhead panel. Minor gripe (and similar to that of the B200 and C90) is that the blue panel floods are waaay too bright. A dimmer bitmap is definitely required there. Not the cabin flood, but the blue lighting that resides over the panel itself. I always thought that was some kind of emergency lighting but maybe I am wrong.

Performance FPS-wise is excellent on my system. I turned off the Avidyne they installed in the panel as I have no need for it, and will most likely replace it with a weather radar.

So, what do they mean about the FMS actually working?

Honestly, Ryan, I can't comment on that yet since I didn't even have a chance to power the FMS up. I was more concerned with getting my trusty 'ol RXP 530 into that panel. BUt, I am sure that there is a large contingent of users that are no doubt about to beat the FMS-horse to death for something or another. It's a Carenado. I wouldn't expect much beyond basic functionality...

I haven't had time to toy around with it significantly yet, but after a few short minutes I have to say I'm impressed. The FDE feels about right for what I've read about the 1900D. Thankfully it lacks much of that "twitchiness" that is found in many FS turboprop engines. The visual model and VC are superb, as expected with Carenado. There is a rudimentary FMS which allows you to create and modify flightplans, input basic weights and fuel loads, etc without the need for preloading a flight plan into the default FS flight planner (FMS uses default FS database only - no Navigraph updates). You can also add-in the RXP GNS530 if so desired. You won't find PMDG-levels of systems sophistication....but then again the 1900 is a pretty simplistic airplane in reality, too. Pretty much all of the various switches and toggles work as expected....even if forgetting to use them doesn't carry any negative Accu-sim style consequences.

Just a few minor gripes: the interior engine sounds seem too quiet. The 1900 is a pretty noisy bird from the inside, but Carenado seems to have modeled a Cadillac-quiet interior. Also, the environmental/blower sounds are a little too loud for my tastes. It could just be my system, but they almost override the engine sounds.

Overall, I'm still a happy camper!
Hopefully someone does a US Airways blue-over-gray repaint soon.... :jump:

Does anyone know when Carenado puts up new products on the other vendor sites? It sucks not able to buy at the developer site with no paypal option and having to wait quite a while before it is put on sale at the vendor sites. Been wanting this plane since I didn't fly the PMDG portover model in FSX (I don't do portovers at all) and I want to recreate one scheme I did for the FS9 model for the new FSX model. Any input is appreciated.
