Carrier catapult acft.cfg edits

With all of these add-on carriers from the pre-jet era, does anyone have the aircraft.cfg edits to add catapult and arrestor hook data? I'd like to add it to the Skyraider and other similar props.

I cant help you with the Skyraider but adding a catapult & arrestor hook is pretty easy.

Add the following to the aircraft cfg.



[launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot = 21.88, 0.00, -3.94
launch_bar_lug = 23.6, 0.00, -5.54


[Tailhook]
tailhook_position = -15.70, 0.00, -0.60 //-17.50, 0.00, -0.60
tailhook_length = 8.00 // 8.0
cable_force_adjust = 0.50

Now these numbers wont help much, they are for the Aerosoft F14 but the way I modify my planes is I will create a Red light & use the above as the starting point. Then I will move the location of the light so that it matches where the hook & cat hookup are on the plane. Once they are postioned correctly right change the numbers above to match where your light is & the hook I can almost grantee will work fine. You will probably have to play with the cat by moving it forward or back to get it to launch right. If the cat is chucking the plane up move it forward. If its nosing it down move it back.
 
Taking the coordinates of contact point 1 ( if the plane has a nosewheel) will do nicely in a lot of cases.

These settings for Piglet's A-1H Skyraider get me trapped and launched off most FSX carriers. Hopefully your results will be similar.

tailhook_length = 6.0
tailhook_position = -25.000, 0.000, -0.500
cable_force_adjust = 6.0


[Launch_assistance]
launch_bar_pivot = 5.41,0.00,-2.0
launch_bar_lug = 11.583333,0.00,-7.50

For nose wheel prop aircraft Cees's suggestion is a good starting point. You may have to go forward and down a bit.

Here are my numbers for the hook. If anyone is interested in a set of re-worked files for the "J" model let m know and I'll post them here.

Oops, sorry 'bout that! I updated to IOS 9 on my IPad. Not only is it MUCH slower than the previous IOS, it is making mistakes such as NOT saving what I cut and paste. In this case, I had saved a URL for a earlier SOH thread about modifying the .cfg for catapult and arresting gear. My apologies, Jeff! Pete
