Cats and wires

Hi, my cat Meadow has a nasty habit of biting wires in the house. I find chew marks on my surge protector and hear her chewing away at it and my lamp wire. When i feed here she stops doing it soemtimes. Is there any way to preventher from biting wires? I dont want her electrocuted but I dont want to pay money every time for a new surge protector. thx.
Also, the surge protector an lamp are in the living room with no doors so I cant just shut anything. She has plenty of toys, like string, cat toys from store, bags and I try to play with her more often. Would pepper or hot sauce do the trick?

Rub them in the zest from a citrus fruit like orange, lemon or lime. It works a treat for keeping them off furniture so I imagine it should do the same for your cables.

With regards to hot sauce, every cat I have ever had has loved hot and spicy food, they would gobble it down when my back was turned and never showed any ill effects no matter how hot it was. So peppering the wires might not be the best idea if your cats share similar tastes to mine.

i had a dog training book all the way back in 1982 that recommended hot sauce to curb a dog from poopin in the house. that dog loved hot sauce and would think it a treat when she saw the bottle come out of the fridge.
 
Cats despise the smell and taste of citrus,just put a piece of an orange in front of him and you will see what I mean.:jump:
 
Also, to stop them from jumping on tables, furniture, etc. Try putting some aluminum foil all over, or that tacky paper stuff (I forget the name for it) Contact paper maybe? Anyways, cats do not like the feeling of stickiness under their paws. Helps curve the bad habit real quick!

 
i would use some sort of citrus as well...my cat loves spicey as well...she loves BBQ'd potato chips..the hotter the better..and i have some spicy chinichinga things in the freezer...i have to put haley outside when i heat one up cause she wont leave me alone...she hates bananas too
