Cazzie, you can't say I didn't warn you!

Unfortumately I did delete the standard OAW lozenge finish in a moment of inattention. As I hate to do the same repaint twice, I have done something totally different.

As far as I know this repaint hasn't been done yet. The repaint depicts the Fokker D-VII (OAW) flown by the 4 victory pilot Leutnant Alfred Greven.

This Fokker had a BMW engine and was handed over to the Americans after the war.

I did a new blue-ish type of 4-colour lozenge for this one. I hope to do some other repaints in the near future with this lozenge.

Cheers,
Huub

I'll get that just to look at your weathering effects on the textures. :d

I have been playing with the lozenge and finally have the fuselage lined up better. But it is impossible to align correct with the bolts due to the stretch imparted by Stuart's .mdl on the fuselage top. I did work up a new DXT3 bitmap file for the wing "hier anheban" decals. Stuart's default has these white on a black background, but often they are seen in Lozenge as just white lettering without the backfround. I have attached it here in 888-8 32-bit so you can open it and see it. Simply right-click and save, then convert back to DXT3 with MS's Image Tool or Martin's DXTBitmap.

Thanks for the hint about the "anheben" decal. I had not yet noticed it, but I will definitely keep it in mind with my future repaints.

I use at least 7 or 8 separate layers for the wings, including two to give the wings a sort of fabric look. I also use a lot of shading to give the wings a more natural look (I hope). I also add light and a bit of shadow. This time I also tried to show some details of the structure of the fuselage in my repaint.

The repaint is already in the queue, but I noticed Douglas has already been around, So I don't think they will be available before tomorrow.

Enjoy.

Stuart Green... he built a Fokker D.VII for CFS-2. Is this the same plane? Or is this a new model for FS-2004? I plan on getting this Fokker for use in FS-2002 if I can. :wiggle:

Alright! This one should make an even 3 dozen :d! O' course there's always room in the hanger (130 gig free) for more Fokkers in the Willy's Flying Circus!

Thanks! :ernae:

Willy, when you keep downloading them, we keep making them :d

The FS2004 model is a (very) different model. It is amazingly detailed and you must really see it to believe it!

Moving tappets, an extremely detailed engine and an fully animated pilot (whick looks very much like the designer of the model :costumes:)

The model is available on Stuart's web-site or at Flightsim.com

Thats it, i give in, ive just got to get me this Fokker, these repaints look loverly, thanks guys :ernae:
cheers ian

excellent repaint Huub, nice shading and weathering, looks quite effective. The ribs stand out nicely.

Hey everyone!

Good news! The airplane exists according to FS-2002, and it shows up in the sim.

Bad news... the plane is all-black, and it does not even fly... it just sits on the end of the runway and flips around and around while the sim says I'm overspeeding...

I know the textures need run through a converter which I do not have... but what about the weird flying?

Awesome paint work Huub! Excellent attention to all the fabric details like ribbing tape even...

:ernae: :applause: :ernae:

I gotta say Huub, this is my new favourite livery for the DVII. Really appreciate all the work you and Caz do with these skins.

Cheers! Mike:ernae:

By far my favorite of your liveries Huub! :ernae:

You can bet I have already carried the textures over to Photoshop and converted them to study. The weathering and texture in the wings is superb. Perhaps a tutorial someday? :d:applause:

Thanks for the kind words guys, I'm really pleased you all like it. But stay tuned as I'm convinced my best repaint has still to be done ;)

Cazzie, as I don't really know what I'm doing it is hard to write it down. I just play al lot and keep what I like and erase what I don't like. And sometimes I erase things I shouldn't erase :banghead:.
Like you I study the textures done by others, For instance Randy's "Floh" has a very simple scheme, but the textures are extremely well done. The default textures from this model have some features I have not yet been able to copy :d.
It is the same with the incredible textures by Manuele Villa. He does use some techniques which are really unique.

Currently I'm working on an impossible repaint. It has some parallel lines on the top of the fuselage. Those who tried to do the same know the top of the fuselage is streched it such a way it can't be done :banghead:.
But I'm convinced I will find a way to get it like I want :costumes:

Cheers,
Huub
