Cees Donker's Schellingwoude scenery traffic

Cees Donker's Schellingwoude scenery includes a traffic file. The airport.txt file shows a lot of "airfields" beginning with ICAO codes X3xx.bgl. Some have more or less the same coordinates as Schellingwoude itself. Does anyone knows why they have been listed there or what was the purpose? Thanks for any advice.

BTW, the scenery doesn't match with default shoreline. I added a surface to compensate the empty space.

I'd have to take a look at the "Flightplans" text file inside the traffic file to be sure, but I would guess the mystery ICAO's are invisible "airports" that the AI fly to as part of an over-all route. :indecisiveness:
MAIW does the same thing with some of their traffic files.
You could also run FS9 and check the Map View. They might be tough to spot but they should show up.
Another way is to run AFCAD and type in the mystery ICAO's. They should load and you'll be able to get Lat/Lon info plus the BGL names.

Thanks for your reply. I searched them with UltraSearch and all X3xx.bgl files are related to UK airfields. Probably the airport.txt file has been used with other fi,gtplans. Cees Donker created several air bases with appropriated traffic. Certainly the airport file has been for these too.

UltraSearch is a payable search tool. Compared with freeware Everything, it allows to search in external drives as well. Everything would do it either, but the external drive should be NTFS formatted before. With an 500 GB size FS9 it's rather unpractible!

Thanks for your help anyway.

That's a blast from the past! I wish I could help here, but I no longer have fs9 installed. What I do know is that I also made Waalhaven and De Mok which were sea plane bases too. My guess is that the traffic file included these two 'airfields'.

Hi Cees,

Thank you for the prominent answer to my question! This corresponds to what I already assumed. In any case, my question shows that your sceneries are still in demand and capable of inspiring and appreciation. Thanks also for having done them!

I've taken a look at the traffic files. It's very simple. I started making UK airfield for FS9 and made traffic files for these airfields. Noting really fancy: the planes depart and return to the same aifield. Every time I made a new traffic file for a new airfield an airfield was added to the text file containing the airfield(s) I already did.

I edited the afcad file for Schellingwoude to fit in a standard install instead of GW. I also made the taxiway zero feet wide. Taxiways are now practically invisible.

Bernard,

From what I know one of the hangars was built above the water.

That's exactly the same way I proceed to create flightplans. Most of AI do just pattern flights. I add selfmade airport ID always to the same file. So the main Airports.txt file remains updated. Thanks for your clarificarions.
