3100 years ago, the celtic influence was on a large part of Europe... However it did not happened the same events during the centuries, here and there... But today the celtic tradition is more alive in several regions of UK, and in Brittany... ancient Story... When I was young, at school, a young boy like me had only spanish roots, but... he had Redhead with blue eyes... General De Gaulle, himself, had irish roots in a part of his genealogy...

Although a different genre from the prior lovely bits of music, I really like Heather Alexander's March to Cambreadth!

The thumping of the massed bodhrán drums sends shivers down my spine. I can only imagine the terror hearing this coming towards them might arouse in the enemy ranks!

What I love about this kind of music (and especially the Celtic/traditional/folk music scene over here) is the variety of styles it can encompass, and the adaptability of it. So you can have everything from the gentle traditional ballads like Mo Ghile Mear to the March of Cambreadth. The wealth of talent involved in this, worldwide, is astounding & I love the fact that it is becoming more & more popular (for example, I may not be a fan of Flatley and Riverdance, but it gave people a taste of what they could find); I also love the fact that there is so much crossfeed, that you can have 'fusion' groups like the Afro Celts, or things like the Transatlantic Sessions mixing American traditional musicians with European ones. Long may it continue, we are all richer for it!

Ahh...now that bring's back memories! Back in 1996 I was at a music festival in Cork. I managed to wrangle my way back stage to meet some of the performers. Got somewhat inebriated (naturally:icon_lol:) and got to dance on stage with the ACSS in front of 30k people.:icon_lol:
